Rome 2518 Daybreak Sundial, Cast Iron with Verdigris Finish, 10.5-Inch Diameter

This sundial looks great and the craftsmanship is excellent. Substantially heavy at 4-1/2 lb., it is durable and will wear well in the yard. Assembling the gnomon onto the face was very easy, the holes lined up perfectly and the screws are of good quality. The casting is well detailed and the finish is also very consistent. (It includes a bolt and the necessary washers to mount it to the manutacturer's pedestal base, but I have other plans for mounting it.)Only thing I don't get is the ad says it's 10.5" in diameter, mine measures 9-7/8". Not a big issue for me.Just a note: The angle of the gnomon is about 50+°, and I'm at about 43°, so the dial is not very accurate at all. For any kind of accuracy, generally, the gnomon angle should equal your latitude. It's a great decoration though.

Threads in the base do fit the given hardware.

This sundial makes hanging out in the yard interesting - using the sun's position to tell the time over the day. It could use a better coating to prevent rust, so you may wish to paint it right away.

Absolutely gorgeous! I always wanted a sun dial and finally found the perfect one on amazon. Very heavy, easy to assemble...just two pieces. I look forward to having this for many years, and it comes with a history of sundials and how to place it in the right direction. P.S. The seller is really great too.

almost a accurate at the expensive Swiss watch you wear on your wrist.+ battery does not run down+ does not need to be wound+ works when the power is off- does not over overnight :)- does not work on overcast/cloudy days :)stop looking and just buy this sundial.

This sundial is just beautiful!! I love the look, the weight, and how the finish of the Sundial is.The patina is perfect! It will only get better with age. It sits upon out herb garden and looks like it wasmeant to be. It was hard choosing the Sundial from the assortment Amazon has, but I know Imade the right choice. Well actually my dogs did for Mother's Day!!

Sure it's pretty but why lie about the size? It is not 10.5 inches - it's just ten and that half an inch all the way around would of been a perfect fit for my stand. Also I thought that the gnomon would be bigger and deeper on the sundial. I guess it will work but something just does not seem right. The nice things about it is that it is heavy and looks like it will last.

Bought this for a gift for an aunt. She loved it and has now put it in her garden.
