how could I seal one end?

There is a half inch soft PVC "cap" you can slide over one end and seal with PVC glue for an easy forever fix.

is the 1/2" vinyl tubing food safe or food grade?

Thanks for your question. To my knowledge this tubing does not have any food safe or food grade certifications. It is safe for use in ponds and water gardens, but it does not have any sort of potable or food use certifications. I added this to my cart and an hour later I was about to checkout when I noticed you raised your $7.97 price to $10.16 which is 27% higher. Why?

Hello. We thank you for your inquiry. You must contact Home Depot to see why the price difference as the orders go through their site unless you call us directly. We hope this helps. Your TotalPond Water Gardening Specialist, Mary

Is there an adapter I can buy that mimics the smaller end of this so I can cut it up?

Hello. The size is the same on both ends of the tubing, 1/2 inch inner diameter. Also, our pumps do come with the adapters so you can attach the tubing to the pump. We hope this helps you!
