K9 Select Melatonin for Dogs, 1mg, 180 Beef Chewable Tablets

I got this for my 15 year old, 12 pound, terrier mix. She had been waking up around two or three every morning going into the living room, and just sitting there barking, for no apparent reason. I tried medicine from the vet, which seem to work, OK, but it’s expensive. The vet tech had recommended melatonin to me, so I thought I’d give it a try. I give her 2 mg about 9 PM, and so far, for the last couple of weeks, no more middle of the night barking! She takes them no problem, I just dropped them on the floor, like a treat, and she gobbles them up. I have another dog, about 20 pounds, border collie mix, I gave her one, one night because she wanted to treat as well. But it seemed to bother her stomach, so I won’t give them to her again, unless she really needs them. But I do give her a treat as well at the same time! It’s like having toddlers, lol. I believe the recommended dosage for my terrier, is 1.5 mg, but I haven’t wanted to hassle with trying to cut them in half. So I just give her two. Update June 16: still working! No issues with the barking or the melatonin.

My elderly dog may have Sundowners, so my vet recommended using a dog-safe melatonin. My dog is 15 pounds. I gave her a full tablet the first night & she acted hung over the next day. Half a tablet works well for her. We are happy with how this product helps our old gal sleep through the night.

Just started this product about a month. It wasn’t working for him until I read some of the reviews, so I had to increase the amount I was giving him. Seems to be working much better he’s sleeping longer and so am I . Thanks to others and their reviews I’m not up all night.

My 17 year old dachshund loves this melatonin. He had been having issues with wakefulness at night which in turn disrupts my sleep and that is no good! After doing some research I decided to try this product. I started with 1 tablet offering it to him in my hand. He wouldn't take it so I hid it in a piece of treat. One tablet seemed to have no effect. I increased to 2 tablets after a few days and he still had wakefulness. I tried 3 tablets(which is the maximum dose suggested on the bottle for small dogs)and that seems to be working. He generally will sleep for most of the night only getting up once to go potty. He has also started taking the tablets without having to hide them in food or treats. I read some reviews that say they stink. I don't think they do. They smell like beef bullion to me.

Does not make my 5lbs dog drowsy at all.

My small dog is SMART and ACTIVE. We know she's tired at the end of the day, but she's been bred to work and has a hard time "shutting off". These melatonin pills seem to do the trick. Pros: - Small pill size allows for easy correct dosage based on dog size. (e.g. 1, 2, 3 pills) - Dog likes the taste but does not qualify NOT a high value treat. - With proper dosage, helps dog sleep without forcing dog to be drowsy. Not a substitute for exercise. - Other dog sleeping aids/anti-anxiety meds made our dog "dopey" (e.g. not listen to commands and break training like stepping into street instead of sitting at curb.) NOT an issue with this treat! Cons: - Not a high-value treat, if dog is stressed, they may not take the treat. - May help reduce anxiety but not significantly for our active dog. it's just a sleeping aid and that's fine.
