OWDEN 12Piece Leather Hole Punch Set,(1/8”-3/4”) with a Cutting Mat.

I mostly write negative reviews to warn others. But in the case of this punch set, I'm saying buy, buy, buy! I have used this set of punches for almost six months. They are high quality steel and sharp enough to cleanly cut fabric material or leather. They even worked on plastic. Honestly, I bought them for one purpose, but have found many other unexpected applications for them. (One example is using the conical section to set a hollow rivet.) Half the time I buy specialized tools and barely use them - this set is the opposite.

Very nice set of punches. The included punch pad worked well as backing. I used this set to reproduce gaskets for my vintage motorcycle, from gasket sheet material, saving a large expense and time.

Worked perfectly for cork/rubber gasket material which was 3/16" thick. Use a heavy hammer and a piece of hardwood to backup the material you are cutting. Cuts cleanly and removal of the cut circle is easy with the access slot. Good value considering the relatively low price.

I purchased this punch set because I reload black powder cartridges from the 1860s to 1890s, which often need an overpowder wad to balance the load and provide for inert filler on top of the powder. You can purchase pre-cut wads from specialty suppliers, but only in the most popular calibers, and for a price that becomes burdensome if you shoot a lot. One can purchase cork or other vegetable fiber sheets from most any craft store for low cost, and with this inexpensive punch set make your own wads. The provided punches will cover most popular calibers (0.25", 0.32", 0.43", 0.45", 0.50", 0.577", 20 gauge and 12 gauge). I have punched out hundreds of 0.577" wads and found no significant diminishing of sharpness or ease of use. Since the cutting edge is ground from the outside, it will be relatively easy to sharpen on a belt sander/grinder if you ever need to sharpen the punch cutting edges. One thing to note is that the provided cutting mat will get you started with perhaps 20 - 50 wads or holes but you will need a sheet of plastic or wood (cutting board material works well) as a cutting surface if you wish to cut many wads or holes. If you are making wads, it is helpful though not strictly necessary to have a short length of dowel to push the wads out of the punch bore. All in all this is a good product and excellent value for the money.

Great tool for punching circles in felt. A lot cheaper than specialized tools as well. Portable and easy to use. Also came in a case.

These punches are NOT dull! If you’re having difficulty getting them to go through, you’re probably using them on the wrong surface. Don’t use wood, a cutting board, or even a Poundo™️ Board. Instead, use a polyboard. The cutting boards sold in department stores for kitchen use are perfect and you can get them in sets of 3 or more different sizes. Put the polyboard on a sturdy table or workbench and I promise you’ll be punching through an inch of leather in no time! Also, while it’s not absolutely necessary, polishing the edges of your punches will make a HUGE difference in not only how easily they cut, but how easily they pull back out of whatever material you’re punching through. Look at the edge around the very tip of the punch in my first photo - you can see horizontal “scratches” that run all the way around the shiny edge around the tip. Then look at the second photo which is the same punch after pulling it across a leather strop a few times. The scratches are almost gone! Those scratches literally grip the material, absorbing a lot of the energy you’d rather have working FOR you instead of AGAINST you! Do yourself a favor and search YouTube for “how to make a leather strop,” and start POLISHING the edges of every cutting surface you’ve ever “sharpened.” Believe me, sharpening is only an early stage of making an edge “sharp,” and polishing makes a difference you have to see and feel to understand. But even if you can’t be bothered to spend a few minutes with a strop on these punches, a sturdy table and a polyboard alone will change your life! Do both and I promise you’ll be very, very happy!!

After my annoying experience with another like product. This version is exactly what I have been looking for! (I make patch stops for use on my microscope.) Very sharp. And work perfectly! Just what I have been looking for. And the little mat that came with them. Is a big plus. As is the storage pouch.

The puncher set suit my need in making the car cover very strong and lasting.

Was nervous because of the reviews saying they weren't sharp, but mine arrived very sharp. I needed them to punch through reinforced PVC fabric (putting self bailing holes in a raft) and it worked extremely well. I can't comment on their longevity, but they did a great job for the specific task I had.

So far it is sharp and doesnt have any problem going thru very thick vinyl. Time will tell as to its hardness of the metal. The one 9/16 one looks used but it cuts fine. I would give them a 4.5 rating if I could.
