VAN NESS Pet Food Container, 5 lb

We have a puppy and with him we bought a 20 kilo bag of puppy food. As soon as we came home the puppy tore a hole in the bottom of the food bag! The bag was taken up-stairs away from temptation but the smell was awful. So we chose a Van Ness Pet Food Storage Container 50ib/22.7Kg. Perfect. problem solved, this has wheels for easy access and for cleaning behind too. The lid has a rubber seal which prevents the smell of puppy food permeating the house. The size is just right, we also store puppy treats as there is plenty of room. We agree with other reviewers, this bin is overpriced for a molded plastic product but it does the job and there is nothing else available that is as good.

Great, compact product that easily stores a 4kg bag of dried cat food. The lid opens fully on a hinge so is dead easy to fill the cat's food bowls. Nice, secure catch and seal round the lid that keep the food fresh and my wicked, greedy kitty away from seconds (and thirds...). Also really like the smoked plastic effect as it's easy to see how much food's left and it looks a bit smarter than your average plastic tub. Highly recommended.

Great for the cat's dry food. You can see how much is in the box, but it looks neat out on the kitchen floor. The lid has a good clasp to keep the food fresh and to keep the cat food smell in the box! Quick an easy to dispense into the cat's bowl - I bought a scoop separately on Amazon. Good purchase.

With three cats in the house we do get through a lot of cat biscuits and obviously buying in bulk is far more cost effective. I was concerned that a container large enough to hold a bulk bag of biscuits might not be air-tight or mobile enough but this ticks all the right boxes. The container opens/closes with a distinct 'click' noise (which our cats now recognise and come running to!) and the inside of the lid has an air-tight ring. We're almost at the end of a 10kg bag of biscuits and they still smell as fresh as when we first opened the packet. Great purchase!

No problems with the quality of the container but rather disappointed that it had obviously been used as it had the remains of food that had been stored in it. I understand that people may return items if they are not suitable but would expect an item bought as new to be clean.

You might get a cheaper container but I doubt you'll get one as well made as the Van Ness ones. They are very sturdy and the lids lock positively. These are the only ones I will be buying in future

It has many uses

Had this for ages, it's great, keeps the food dry and is completely airtight. Fantastic product, would recommend it. I keep it in my garage and have no problems with damp food.

Finally found the perfect pet food container: The lid seals the food and keeps it fresh. The wide open is perfect to take out food with a small shovel. The 10lb (=4kg) container has just the right size to store a big amount of pet food and still can be lifted up or down easily. It like that it is semi-transparent, the wheels are great and the volume seems bigger. Don't think the container is air tight, but once it is filled up, the cover does click shut. I buy 25Kg bags of cracked corn to feed ducks and there is lots of room left over. And the corn is pretty fine. Hope everything holds up for at least a few years.

Ordered this to keep my cat's prescription diet food in to keep it from going rancid and/or keep the cats out of it. It locks tightly and preserves the food well. The lid is easily opened and closed/locked with one hand. Pro tip: always leave kibble in the bag it came in/don't dump into any plastic container as it will scratch the plastic and leave behind rancidity that cannot be washed out. I just use the bin to ensure a good, airtight seal. I also use a smaller one of these to keep my powder laundry detergent smelling fresh for the whole time that I use it - thr boxes last a LONG time, fit into a dog food airtight container, and mt basement is humid a lot of the time, contributing to less potent-smelling, sometimes even clumpy powder detergent.

We bought 2 of these containers, one for bird seed and one for dry cat food and we couldn't be more pleased! The wheels are already on the containers so there's no "futzing" with having to insert them, and they roll and move smoothly and easily. The cover seals securely and the contents of the container is easy to access. Now, instead of having multiple bags of seed and cat food taking up alot of space this attractive and convenient container is a great problem saver that keeps everything fresh and secure. And the 50lb capacity allows us to mix bag flavors together.
