Slightly bigger than 1 inch diameter.

How much weight can these support before deforming or opening?

Not sure, I have 4 keys and a small key fob on it and it seems to be fine. U are limited on the number of keys u put on it. The more keys the harder it is to open.

The one I have is fairly small diameter, so not too many keys will fit on it. I don’t think the ring would accidentally open from weight though. Really I don’t know the answer!
