Great product, slightly expensive
This product really works well. I was getting reflux after eating in the evening and at night before bed. Two teaspoons took care of the issue for me entirely. I use this every day and haven’t had any side effects except maybe some slight burping right after taking it but that doesn’t last long. The taste is fine, and the texture is kind of like pudding. I love that I’ve found something that stops my reflux without having to alter my stomach acid pH. I want to do everything I can to avoid PPIs. I wish more doctors suggested this as an option before prescribing drugs. The only issue I have with this is the price. I think it’s expensive for what it is but the tube is a reasonable size and I use my HSA to pay for it too so that helps.

Goes down easily.
I just used this for the first time last night. I thought it would be gross, but surprisingly, it wasn't at all. It squints out like toothpaste. I squirted some in a tablespoon, turned the spoon upside down & kind of licked it off with the middle of my tongue & swallowed. It has a pleasant taste, but I barely tracked that as it went down. Didn't feel weird--no slimy feel; just disappeared. No aftertaste. No burping up. Definitely no acid came up during the night. I took it just before bed. I'm weaning off my acid reducers & taking 3mgs melatonin every night. This of going to help tremendously. Wish I had heard of it sooner.

Miracle product, but avoid the lemon flavored
While this is a MIRACLE product that has basically removed my need for reflux medicine and has basically removed my need to watch my diet, I strongly suggest the berry flavor. I got that first then later replaced it with the lemon ginger and hate it. It stings my throat! And who would have thought that LEMON is the key ingredient someone with stomach acid issues craves???

Works wonders for LPR!
My 65-year-old mother has had a persistent cough for the last four years that comes and goes. Over the last six months, her cough had gotten significantly worse to the point where she could not sleep at night, causing her to feel more ill. Within that six month period, she was overseas for three of those months. The overseas doctors did multiple chest xrays and didn't see anything particularly wrong with her, but prescribed her antibiotics twice in that 3 month period. After finally coming back home, mom's cough got better for a week and a half. We thought the environment was causing her cough to become worse. However, after the week and a half passed, the cough returned with a vengeance. She was now coughing so much, so loud, and so hard that none of us in our apartment were getting any rest throughout the days or nights, so fed up, I took her to City MD, where she had an xray done, appeared to have some scarring on her lungs, was diagnosed with pneumonia and referred to a pulmanologist. She was put on a mix of two different antibiotics, bringing her up to being prescribed and take a whopping 4 different antibiotics within a four month timespan. With the antibiotics from CityMD, she was also told to take SafeTussin as a cough suppressant. SafeTussin and the antibiotics worked for a week, during which time we visited a pulmanologist, who agreed with CityMD's diagnosis after reviewing the xrays. Within a few days, mom's cough came back, again. She was coughing so hard that it looked like she was choking. She now had shortness of breath with the cough. Her throat was raw from the coughing and her mouth was blistered. Within 10 days, we returned to the pulmanologist, did another xray, and were so frustrated because nothing seemed to help. Finally, the pulmanologist started asking questions about whether mom feels heartburn (no), if she feels acid reflux (very often), if she coughs a lot (obviously), if her voice is hoarse throughout the day (usually when she wakes), and a series of other questions. The diagnosis of pneumonia was changed and she was diagnosed with LPR, told to change her diet, get a wedge pillow, and take her omeprazole more consistently (she was really bad about that last one). All of that was done and her cough still was not easing up. We were told that it would take a while for the cough to go away, but mom and I were both at our wits end with the lack of sleep. I did some research on what helps with LPR and came across that Alginate really helps but forming a barrier over the stomach acid. Then I came across this product and read the ingredients list, which looked relatively clean. I bought the melatonin version first because it has the fastest delivery and God knows she needed the sleep that would come with it. The first night she took two teaspoons and SLEPT for two hours straight without coughing!!! The next day, I ordered the regular non-melatonin version of RefluxRaft. She started taking it after her meals, and her coughing decreased significantly more. She kept up this routine of taking omeprazole before her morning meal, taking RefluxRaft after her meals, taking RefluxRaft (melatonin) about two hours before bed and thank God, Within two weeks, her cough was almost fully gone. One thing I will say, if you have a bad cough, the lemon/ginger flavor might aggravate it. With LPR, it is best to avoid citrus flavors because they will aggravate the cough more. Mom has been using the berry flavor. Thankfully, her diabetes has not suffered any negative side effects by RefluxRaft. If you stayed towards the end of this review, I hope it provided you with some helpful information! I'll leave this same review on the other RefluxRaft product I purchased for mom.

Premium Price, Weak Formula, Not Enough Transparency
I really wish I looked into the actual formula before buying this stuff. The whole reason you’re buying something called RefluxRaft is for the alginate raft, right? That’s basically the entire point of the product. RefluxRaft lists a 338 mg proprietary alginate complex per serving. Not 338 mg of sodium alginate. A 338 mg proprietary complex. So you don’t even really know how much sodium alginate you’re actually getting. That’s the part that really bothers me. There are other alginate reflux products that clearly disclose 500 mg of sodium alginate in a 5 mL dose. RefluxRaft, meanwhile, gives you a smaller total proprietary complex and doesn’t even tell you how much of that complex is actually sodium alginate. So even if we gave them the most generous possible assumption and pretended the entire 338 mg proprietary complex was sodium alginate, it would still only amount to about 68% of 500 mg. And again, we don’t actually know that the full 338 mg is sodium alginate because they don’t disclose it. That’s pretty ridiculous considering RefluxRaft is around $33 a tube. There’s all this marketing around enhanced alginate therapy, natural ingredients, doctor formulated, lower sodium, etc., but how about just telling people the most basic thing they probably want to know? How much actual sodium alginate am I getting? Why is that hidden inside a proprietary blend? Especially when your entire product is being sold around the idea of forming an alginate raft. To be fair, I understand that more alginate doesn’t automatically mean a better product. There are other things involved in how well a raft forms. But if anything, that makes me want more transparency about the formula, not less. People buying this stuff are dealing with reflux, GERD, LPR, throat irritation, regurgitation, trouble sleeping from reflux, etc. A lot of people are desperate to find something that works and are willing to spend good money to get relief. So yeah, charging a premium price while giving people what appears to be a comparatively weak formula and then hiding the actual sodium alginate amount inside a proprietary complex leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. It feels like they’re banking on the fact that most people aren’t going to sit there comparing milligrams between products. I did. And now I’m disappointed I spent the money. As of now, I would not consider buying this again unless they either improve the formula or significantly lower the price to better reflect what you’re actually getting. $33 for a product literally called RefluxRaft and you can’t just clearly tell me how much sodium alginate is actually in it? No thanks. I won’t be buying it again.

It’s a maybe
I had high hopes, but I did not care for it when I actually used it. I think the bulky nature of the sodium alginate or whatever it’s called triggered my IBS. I did not get pain relief from Gerd either but like a lot of things what helps one person doesn’t help another. I will say it was a quality enough product to try even though it didn’t work for me.

Game Changer!
After using multiple OTC and RX for recurring severe acid reflux, and developing gallbladder issues/stones, I knew something had to be done. I discontinued all of those products, stopped eating late at night and was focused on my gallbladder. After watching multiple YouTube videos, I understood how my gallbladder works and the relationship with stomach acid. Although I didn't like it, I was sleeping on an incline using wedges, and during the day I was limiting tight fitting shaper wear. I was seeing some moderate success but still had reflux issues. This product has been a game changer and lifesaver! The first night I used it, I took one teaspoon. After sleeping 4 hrs, I started getting the first feelings of acid creeping up my esophagus. I got up and took a 2nd teaspoon and was able to go right back to sleep. The second and subsequent nights, I started with 2 teaspoons. After about 10 days, I unexpectedly had to spend the night away from home and didn't have it with me. I was fine. I occasionally will skip a dose if I've eaten dinner early enough or had a nighttime snack well before bed. I've also experimented with trying 1 teaspoon with varying degrees of success. I'm now into my second tube and about 2 1/2 months into using Raft and I don't know how else to explain it but my esophagus and throat feel like they've been healed. I've told a few friends about Raft and they've enthusiastically reported back similar results. I'm now subscribing and receiving 2 tubes bimonthly with considerable savings.
