Nice battery replacement, works good

My M1 2020 MacBook is at the age where it still works just fine, but I'm getting the "service recommended" nag message in my Control Panel because the battery is under 80% of its original capacity. And of course, Apple was the one who led the way for laptops to have non-replaceable batteries. Rather than take my pilgrimage to the Apple Store to pay my annual tribute to the "Geniuses" whose primary job seems to be to wear turtlenecks and look cool, I decided to channel myself from 20 years ago, back when everyone know how to take apart and put together a PC. The last time I tried this I had to search everywhere for the correct Torx screwdriver, which Apple seems to deliberately change to dissuade people from fixing their computers themselves. I love how this company gives you everything you need for this specific model, including the exact two kinds of screwdrivers you need and tools and accessories to do it right. Note that this repair is not for the faint-hearted—another booby trap that Apple puts in your way is that it cements the battery to the case, almost daring you to remove it (which can be hazardous given that it's li-ion). This is where I'd suggest you watch a lot of YouTube videos to look at different techniques of how people do it. I found the plastic card and scraper provided good for the task (you definitely don't want to be poking around the battery with metal), but different people will have differing levels of difficulty with this step. They do provide their own instructions which are good as reference, but it's good to see and hear actual people doing it if you've never done it before. Once the old battery is out, it's literally a snap to install the new one. That said, this isn't a Duplo kit, so you'll need to be very, very careful the whole way not to accidentally snap a fragile wire or misalign a fragile connector. That said, it's not as difficult as it may seem to newbies. I don't even bother to re-cement the battery in its place—putting the back cover on will do just fine. But I like that they include all the materials you need to complete a repair that's near or better than the quality an Apple subcontractor would do (who likely use the same parts and maybe even the same battery). If you have any kind of DIY instinct, this is a way to save a ton of money and do your part to stop Apple's extortion rates.

Do not buy this battery. It stopped working well after the first battery cycle. Drains very quickly after the first week. Very poor adhesive on the battery causes it to clank around within the laptop. After spending the time to replace the battery, I am extremely disappointed with the quality. I didn’t expect it to be a brand new OEM battery, but this one is JUST HORRIBLE. DO NOT BUY. Feel free to write me if you have any questions.

I got this for my A2338 Macbook pro 13" laptop as the battery required service and would not maintain a charge and this battery has been working perfectly! For starters, I was intimidated by the installation as there are quite a few more steps involved here than changing a regular laptop battery but fortunately SeaPlant includes great instructions, tools, and on the product page they even have an instructional video that walks you right along the process! This battery has been doing a great job for me so far and I will likely update this review in months to come to comment on how the battery life is holding up!

Well the mac is working slightly faster if not like a race car. It is still heating up fast. I guess that was not battery related. It definitely lasts longer. Before I replaced it, it still lasted a lot longer than Windows laptops, the improvement is not like twice what it was.

Das MacBook eines Freundes verlangte nach 'Service', weil der Akku unter 80% seiner Nominalkapazität gefallen war. Also nahm ich das Testangebot für den SeaPlant Akku sehr gerne an und versprach auch den Tausch vorzunehmen. Der Akku kommt in einem relativ großen, aber flachen Karton, in den der 3-teilige Akku vorbildlich geschützt in Schaumstoff eingebettet ist. Im Prinzip liegt der Akku so in seiner Verpackung, wie er später in das MacBook kommt. Dabei ist auch jede Menge nützliches Zubehör, vor allem Schraubendreher für die Spezialschrauben von Apple. Es ist für mich eigentlich eine große Genugtuung, dass die Dritthersteller die passenden Werkzeuge mittlerweile kostenlos beilegen, obwohl sich Apple doch immer wieder soviel Mühe gibt, mit absurden Schraubenerfindungen die Selbstreparatur zu erschweren. Wichtiges Zubehör sind auch die diversen Kunststoffspatel, um den festgeklebten Akku aus dem Notebook zu bekommen. Außerdem liegen noch Handschuhe und ein Tuch bei, damit auch die Sauberkeit gewährleistet ist. Der Lieferumfang ist schon mal lobenswert. Den Wechselvorgang hier komplett zu erklären, würde den Rahmen solch einer Rezension sprengen. Ich möchte nur soviel sagen, es ist nicht trivial. Es geht damit los, dass man wissen sollte, wie man im Terminal unter MacOS das Auto-Boot Feature abschaltet und führt über viele andere feinmotorische Tätigkeiten. Besonders mit den 'feingliedrigen' Flachbandkabeln und den Steckverbindern im MacBook sollte man sehr vorsichtig umgehen. Die Handschuhe helfen dabei, die Kontakte nicht unnötig mit Fingerfett zu beschmutzen. Die Entfernung des eingeklebten, 3-teiligen Akkus ist auch nicht so einfach. Man sollte ausschließlich flache Kunststoffhilfsmittel verwenden und keinesfalls spitze Metallwerkzeuge. Diese sogenannten 'Pouch-Zellen' haben praktisch keinen mechanischen Schutz, da sie ja nur eingebaut werden. Hilfreich ist ein Lösemittel für die Klebepads, das aber nicht beiliegt. Die Zellen beim SeaPlant Akku sind schon mit Klebepads versehen und lassen sich dann einfach einsetzen. Eine wirklich gute Erklärung findet man bei iFixit. Einfach zusammen mit der Notebook Artikelnummer googeln. Mein Fazit: das MBP meines Freundes läuft wieder 1A und auch das Akkumanagement zeigt sich zufrieden mit dem Zustand des Akkus. Er ist tatsächlich fast neu (1 Ladezyklus) und hat die Nominalkapazität. Auf eine praktische Rückmeldung warte ich noch, habe aber keine Zweifel, dass auch die positiv ausfällt. Der SeaPlant Akku ist nicht der günstigste 3rd-Party Akku, aber der Preis geht in Anbetracht des Lieferumfangs und der Qualität vollkommen in Ordnung. Das Original kostet das 3-fache! Von mir gibts jedenfalls gerne 5 Sterne und eine 100%ige Kaufempfehlung.

Ho usato questa batteria per recuperare il MacBook Pro di mio fratello, dopo aver preso un'altra batteria SeaPlant per un altro modello in mio possesso. Apple ha un costo molto elevato sia nei prodotti, sia nell'assistenza clienti: per la sostituzione di una batteria mi avevano chiesto 150 euro. Inoltre non autorizza la rivendita di pezzi di ricambio nuovi e questo ti costringe, se non vuoi vendere l'altro rene rimasto (il primo lo hai venduto per comprarti il MacBook) ad optare per dei prodotti compatibili. Questo è perfetto. 🫰🏻Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo; ⚙️Kit completo e funzionale, sostituire il pezzo sarà una passeggiata grazie a tutti gli attrezzi inclusi; 🟢Qualità buona: forse tempi di ricarica leggermente aumentati, a fronte però di un'ottima durata, nessun rigonfiamento strano, nessun surriscaldamento pericoloso. Il prodotto per ora è perfetto e il marchio si conferma una garanzia. In sintesi, ho trovato il compatibile perfetto e ve lo consiglio al 100%
