The storyboards are roughed out by Isao Takahata and further refined by Ghibli animator Osamu Tanabe.Due to the lengthy duration of the film and the pages required to cover all the content, this storyboard book is very thick running at 888 pages, one of the biggest of the Ghibli storyboard books.The drawings are accompanied by lots of Takahata's handwritten notes but for me they are much less legible than Miyazaki-san's handwriting !Like all Ghibli storyboard books the thick volume come housed in a cardboard slipcase.Princess Kaguya isn't an easy film to watch ( or re-watch ) because of it's poignant and moving story but this is also one of the hallmarks of Takahata's films, like Graveyard Of The Butterflies. The free-flowing animation style is breathtaking and the storyboard book is an excellent way of appreciating the film in still images. Very highly recommended.
