I lost my ballast in the light fixture in my kitchen. It was likely installed when the house was built in 2003. This unit was an exact size replacement for the original. I chose an instant start model, vice a program start, which makes it use a little more electricity to keep the bulb ready to light quicker, but it operates like an incandescent bulb and is instant-on.While I was at it, I upgraded to extra lumen LED bulbs, wired for use with a ballast (many require you to remove the ballast when upgrading - be sure to read closely). I was always considering replacing the fixture, since it didn't put out quite enough light, but the extra lumen bulbs fixed that.All wires are standard color codes and leads had plenty of length for 48" bulbs. Took 10 mins, start to finish and I had the wife happy enough to get to watch the game in piece :)Disclaimer: I often review items I received at no cost for my honest, unbiased review. HOWEVER, for this item, I am an actual user who purchased this item with my own hard-earned money. If I gave the product 4 or 5 stars, it is because I was pleasantly surprised with the product. If I gave it less than that, I will tell you exactly why and what problems I encountered. When our kitchen light fixture went out, we at first thought it was the bulbs. After installing new bulbs we quickly realized it might be the ballast. Found this replacement ballast and took a chance it was the right one; my husband had it installed, and the lights back on, in less than 30 minutes. The wire colors were the same as our existing wires so this made it easy to hook up, and the ballast fit perfectly in the same spot as the old one. We use the LED T8 bulbs, and everything is working perfectly. Inexpensive fix, fast shipping, lights turn on instantly!

I have purchased these ballasts twice. I had no trouble with my first one, and it worked beautifully. However my most recent one completely failed shortly after the 30-day return window closed. [UPDATE: Robertson's customer service was excellent, and they refunded my money even though it was past the Amazon return window, so I've change my review to 4 stars since my first ballast had no issues.]When I first installed it, I also installed 4 brand new somewhat pricey Sylvania 32W T8 high CRI fluorescent blubs because my old bulbs were pretty dark on the ends. The install went fine, and the light worked, but I could see flickering and visible ripples in all 4 bulbs. I thought it might just need some hours on the bulbs, so I left it on for a few days, and didn't think much more of it. There was still some flicker, but it seemed better.Fast-forward to yesterday, when I flipped on the switch, and nothing happened. I checked the breaker, and checked for 120V at the fixture, and can definitely see power there -- it's just completely dead, with no sign of even trying to light any of the bulbs. So now I'm left with another dead ballast, and need to find an alternative to Amazon's recommendation.

Great price, quick shipping. It was an exact replacement for OEM ballast in my kitchen light fixture. I checked the wire schematic on the old ballast and it matched the new ballast wire schematic, so it was just cut the wires and match the colors and it was good to go. It was the perfect size ballast, so I didn't have to alter the cover over the ballast. Works great.

Read some poor reviews however my experience has been great. The product works perfectly and is half the price of the brick & mortars.

With a quick utube video & no experience installed this myself in 30 min.Wires on ballest already prepped to connect (wires stripped )Would be nice if it came with wire nuts to easy connect to old wires but I had some on hand .Got this next day from ordering !!!Thank you !
