AMAZON HANDLED THIS PROBLEM IN THEIR USUAL FANTASTIC MANNER BUT THE AMBIENT PRODUCT BECAME DEFECTIVE AFTER ONLY A SHORT USE AND THE COMPANY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING TO HELP RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE INK INSIDE THE GLASS LEAKED OUT (AND NOBODY DROPPED IT), IT WAS TOTALLY UNUSEABLE. WARRANTEE WOULD NOT COVER. LIMITED HELP FROM COMPANY. THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE THIS MODEL ANYMORE. WOULD CAUTION OTHERS TO CAREFULLY VIEW ALTERNATIVES.

This is a great product, but the signal strength has some issues, I live in a metropolitan area and haven't gotten more than 2 bars...The instructions say wait 6 hours for the scorecast to synchronize originally, mine took about 24 hours...Would have given 4.5 stars if able.

UPDATE: WELL IT APPEARS AMBIENT HAS CUT OFF THE BASEBALL BROADCAST...WHICH MAKES THIS PRODUCT WORTHLESS. Now you tell me, would you ever buy another Ambient product if they unilaterally PULLED THE PLUG on your newly bought product...???Original Review: In this internet age, you might think this device would be redundant - Well, if you are a baseball fan, this device absolutely ROCKS. The ability to see the score of every game in progress, the schedules of the teams, the scheduled pitchers, the playoffs, etc just really makes the baseball season even MORE FUN. Plus this device is portable, and not tied to power, or the internet. Of course you need to make sure you are in the coverage area, which is easier said than done as the "coverage map" was no longer posted as of Dec 3, 2013 anyway.I previously had purchased the model that plugs into the wall, and frankly I still love it as well, as it sits on the small side stand next to my easy chair, but I wanted another one for work, and I got this one because it is totally portable and runs on batteries.Great gift to yourself, or to another baseball fan. Oh yeah, they used to have another device for football as well, but unfortunately it is no longer made (according to Ambient support)...Which is too bad.

Great product! It has absolutely blown me away and I love it! It may be older but it is still very nice especially during the playoffs

Do not buy. I have owned this unit for about 4 years, and as of this season (2014), it has not been working. I emailed Ambient Support, and this is the response I received: "As of March 1, 2014, Ambient has discontinued the production and support of the Ambient Baseball, Ambient Football & Ambient Centerfiled products. As of this date, customers with these devices in their homes will no longer receive game and standings data. my son is delayed & he loves it.the first one lasted 10 years.he checks scores, standings daily.I endorse this for all baseball people

My original Scorecast went dead at the beginning of April. I had it several years and thought its failure was a matter of age. I ordered a new one early on in April. It arrived, and after setting it up, it did not work either: no time, no scores, no standings, no nothing.Via E-mail, I contacted Ambient's tech department for assistance. Their response is that the product no longer links to the satellite for data. You buy it, but it's "dead in the water." You can return it for a refund, but you do not get reimbursed for the shipping charges you paid for delivery to your address.If I could have posted this with No Stars, I would have. This product should not be offered for sale.

When fed data this was a great product. However, without warning the company turned the switch off and it is now just a paper weight.
