only to be disappointed. This then leads into the last book of ...
Just finished reading the ongoing story started in "The Lady By His Side" and the pace is increasing with the clues and bodies mounting up as now Michael and Cleo embark on the trail of the enemy who threatens Queen and Country. Again this is a mix of romance and detective work, there is plenty of action in which Michael and Cleo participate coming so close to tracing their quarry, only to be disappointed. This then leads into the last book of the trilogy where the last couple Drake Varisey and Louisa Cynster take up the task.Again for £12.99 the book as presented by the publishers is dire! The cover illustrations highlight the discrepancies between what is shown and the text descriptions. As for the typesetting why cannot they correct before publishing that each chapters starting sentence is then followed by a space jump, as a paragraph when it should continue as a following sentence.

Only for very dedicated fans
Slow- with bland hero who could be interchange with any run of the mill Mr Average, does little except follow heroine about, wishing to protect her but not being able to stop her antics and is surprised to think he may be in love.. Just the same as in lots of other much better books. BOOK 1 of trilogy was a good start with at least some action and a plot. not constant reviews of what you have just read S. L.please don't assume readers of this type of book have limited ability to follow a simple tale..Cleo is OK and deserves a more dashing partner .I found the most interesting thing about this book was the history and rules of carting and transporting good,s not exactly what you Iamlooking for in a romance novel.Drake at least is shaping up to have a bit more of the qualities of previous Laurens leading males if he is not overwhelmed by what appears to be a" right little madam" oh for a return to the likes of their parents and something of a decent story.

Oh dear, very disappointing.
Oh dear, very disappointing. This is one long book that has been split into three books, and these need to be read in order, good way of increasing revenue. Not a patch on earlier books. Lots of running around and chasing the murderers but not much character development and none of them ever stopped to think who would be an obvious target and start working backwards. Ridiculous only 6 people attempting to stop this huge attack..

I cannot wait for the final book in this trilogy. However each story is enthralling in its own right.
