Take Your Home Game Mechanics Semi-Pro
I'm not a professional mechanic but the Milwaukee M12 stubby 1/2" impact wrench has greatly improved my home game wrenching. I was struggling to remove a 19 mm crankshaft pulley bolt on my 1996 Daihatsu Hijet mini truck using various hand tools and wasted 45 minutes with no success. I bought the M12 stubby impact and used it on the lowest setting and it didn't quite remove it. It may have if I kept trying for a minute, but I bumped it up to setting 2 and that stubborn bolt spun out immediately. Super easy!. Barely an inconvenience. All of the torque I could apply with a breaker bar was only turning over the engine or rolling the truck if I put it in gear, even with the emergency brake applied. The hammering impact works where constant application of torque doesn't. It's a real game changer, and the stubby size easily fit between the pulley and the radiator on my mini truck. Only a 90 degree impact wrench will fit in tighter spots, but this little impact wrench has the torque to take off lug nuts with ease. With great power comes great responsibility. For those new to impact wrenches, start on the lowest setting and always check that it's in reverse to avoid snapping bolts when trying to remove them because this wee beastie will rip the heads off smaller bolts and strip threads if misused. Tools like this are obvious purchases for professionals, but for occasional home use, this well designed high quality tool is definitely a "buy once, cry once" tool that provides value measured in not busting knuckles, wasting time and putting money in the swear jar. With pretty good HyperTough cordless tools at a quarter the price, this M12 impact wrench is probably a luxury for home use, but good tools make you feel good. It made quick work of removing the bolts securing the water pump as well. This stubby impact wrench was the gateway drug that led me to an M12 addiction of ten tools and counting.

Lightweight and powerful. Perfect for DIYโers.
Since I refuse to buy a new truck and I need to start doing more driveway work, Iโm building out my cordless collection and I needed a 1/2โ impact and this was my choice. I havenโt used this one enough to test battery usage, but all my Fuel tools are great. The overall quality of the tool is the high quality expected from Milwaukee. This 1/2โ impact is very small and lightweight compared to a pneumatic gun of similar power. I tested it on the lugs of my wifeโs Highlander and 5 seconds of hammering removed it. They were last rotated at the dealer so the torque was probably pretty high. This wonโt be up to the task for heavy equipment, suspension or other work with large fasteners in poor shape. But, for an old guy doing car work on a Tacoma, this M12 1/2โ impact is perfect!

Good buy for sure butโฆ
Great compact 1/2โ impact, battery life depends on the battery you run. Itโs Milwaukee quality, great torque, it can bust lug nuts, motor mount bolts and mostly anything minus transmission bell housing bolts loose. Iโd say itโs a good value for a Milwaukee branded product but you can probably get other products thatโll do the job, this one is better if youโre looking for a compact impact though.

M12 Stubby vs M18 Mid torque comparison
I'm a professional flat rate tech. This gun for its size has a boatload of torque. Any car or small SUV lug nut (100ftlb or less lug torque) come off like nothing. Itll do 130-150ftlb jeeps/tahoes/f150s, but the inital time to break it free is longer compared to the m18 mid torque. Compared to my M18 Mid torque, the motors in this gun spin faster. So after the inital break away they spin off faster. Also for installing lug nuts, they spin on considerably faster. With that being said, break away torque is still better on the M18 mid torque, despite having only 50ftlb rated more torque. You can tell the anvil on the mid torque hits harder than the stubby. Did rear hubs on an impala the other day, had to use a universal swivel 18mm to access 2 of the bolts. The stubby did not have enough blow, with the universal socket, to break away those bolts. The m18 mid torque ripped them off with no issue. The main benefit on this gun is the weight and compact profile. I have the 5ah high output xc battery, which is the only one I would use because its considerably more powerful than the cp2.5, and it allows the gun to stand on its end easier. Compared to my m18 mid torque with a 5ahxc battery, the gun is noticeably lighter. Also squeezing into tight spots, like caliper bracket bolts or suspension bolts its much easier with the stubby. All and all, it's a fantastic addition to the professional automotive tech. If I was just starting out, this would be the one I would get. If it cant break it free, you can always break it by hand first, but most day to day stuff you come across will break away with this gun.

Fantastic Tool
This is a beast for the size. It broke free rusted brake bolts I could not get a large breaker bar to and I did not even need to use the highest setting. It completely thrashed a Bosch 12v impact driver I have that could not get the job done. It is my first Milwaukee tool and it sure did impress.

Light weight and dependable
This tool is very nice and lighter weight than my DeWalt 1/2 impact gun. It supposed to have 550 nut busting torque. But only time will tell. So far all my Milwaukee tools work super great and dependable.

Great ratchet, not as powerful as full size
I bought this to sink a bolt, and it did not perform as expected, and the bolt is actually still sticking out. I was able to return the drill with no problem. Great drill for a stubby. Would recommend it for its purpose. I will purchase a full size cordless ratchet that will take care of big jobs such as the job that I needed this Milwaukee for in the next few months...

Boy, this is a great impact wrench - Light and powerful
Light and powerful. Great for lug nuts. No big gun that weighs a ton. Pretty much replaces my 1/2 inch pneumatic impacts. I teamed it up with a 5Ah battery.

What a tool! Wow...
This is easily the most eye-opening tool purchase of the last year. These little things are incredible - the power and light weight are astonishing. Needs the 5.0 HO battery to produce the full rated torque, but still does very well without it. Liked it so much I also bought the 3/8" version.
