Ive been a long time lego maniac! I have my original pirate & castle series from the early 80s. But I can honestly say, this is probably my most favorite set of them all! As an artist, a historian And an Italian, this set is such a great representation of an incredible, historical and amazingly beautiful piece of history. Simplified in the best of Lego ways, it has all the detail you could possibly imagine of such a relic. While the actual fountain is probably smaller than what you might imagine (if you've never been fortunate enough to experience it in person, this lego set is larger than life... for a "toy." I will say this; when I purchased the set, I also bought a secondary lighting system for it. That definitely adds a whole new sense of realism and "magic" to it. However, even as a stand alone set, this model is superb. A bit pricey, but totally worth the extra $$$ if you appreciate art, history, Italy And Lego.

Absolutely beautiful! Smooth assembly with outstanding instruction booklet and exquisite design and quality! My favorite architectural Lego set and the water flow is so realistic and the pooled water has so much variation in perceived depth due to block color variation. The figures also are well conceived and complete the tribute to this magnificent Roman landmark rich in symbolism and history. Lego got it right!

I bought this as a gift for my 40 year old son. He began building with Legos when he was five. He is now collecting the architecture sets of places he has visited. This particular set came out of retirement and Amazon had it at a good price.
