Ethique Curl-Defining Solid Shampoo Bar with Shea Butter, 3.88 oz

This is a great product! I've been using curly products for years and recently decided to try ethique's shampoo and conditioner bars. I have low porosity thick 3A curls that sit a few inches below my shoulders and find that this shampoo (1) lathers really well, (2) does not dry out my hair and (3) is a great value in terms of how long it will last. Lathering: To get this product to lather well, you need to completely drench your hair in water first - like thoroughly. It will spread across very wet hair quite easily and create a notable lather. Not Drying: This shampoo definitely leaves my hair feeling clean but not squeaky clean which is preferable imo. Value: I've used this product for 3 weeks (6 washes) and the size of the bar has reduced by about 18%. By my estimates, this bar should last me about 32 washes or 16 weeks (rounding slightly down as it's hard to use the final remnants of a bar). Whether or not that meets their claim of 1 bar =3 bottles, I'm not sure since I'm not sure how they define a bottle but for me personally I'm ok with spending $14 on a bar that will last me upwards of 4 months. I will add that I do believe the crescent shape is helpful for application. I like the fragrance and think it's leaves my hair in great condition. Including a picture of a new bar and a bar after 6 washes for reference.

Ive had this bar for months now. And its maybe gone down a tiny bit in size since I bought it. Its great for travel and it really helps with my hair. I do have to say tho it has a strong scent but for how well it work fro my hair I dont mind it as much. My hair gets very soft and feels moisturized after using. I feel as tho the price can be a lot at first but for how long it lasts it really pays off (lots of value for your money). The ingredients do not break me out as some other hair products do. The bar can weird at first but you get used to it. I have thick hair and it really gets all of it clean. The thickness of the bar is not too thick as one would think but its still foldable.

I hated this product. As a curly hair girly that last thing I want is for my already dry hair to be drier. And that’s what this did. It dried my curls and also somehow I still didn’t feel like it really cleaned my scalp. I will never buy this product again. It was bulky and hard to hold. The only good thing about it was that it smells nice but that did nothing for my hair.

I have been using the Scalp Health shampoo bar by Ethique for several months, and I like how much it lathers and the great job it does removing excess oil from my scalp. However, I have curly/wavy hair, and my curls were getting dried out from that formula even though I only wash twice a week. When I tried the curl-defining shampoo, I was disppointed that it doesn't lather easily. It isn't drying my hair out as much, but It feels more like a co-wash that weighs down my fine, low porosity curls. Also, it has a really bright blue dye in it that leaves blue residue in my soap rack. Not crazy about that. I won't be reordering.

I have used this consistently for a few months now and can honestly say I'm obsessed. I feel like the shampoo thoroughly cleans my roots without drying out my hair. I haven't felt the need to reach for clarifying shampoo as much since using this. I've had it for over 3 months, and there is still more than half a bar left. I would say this is way more value for my money, knowing it will last twice as long as traditional bottle shampoo lasts me. My curls have been more defined lately, but more importantly to me, I have shinier, softer hair now as well.

I have 2B hair and I’ve been using the curly hair bar for about a month now with the conditioner bar. I do like it. Makes my hair soft, feels moisturized. I keep it in a mesh bag to make it last longer. I’m curious to see how long one bar lasts and plan to compare the price to other shampoos to see if the price is really worth it. The only downside so far is that (for me) it really does take a lot more effort getting the soap on to my actual scalp because of the consistency. So I wouldn’t say it’s easier to use than regular shampoo, but that’s not a huge deal breaker for me.

I've been using this for a couple years now and it always leave my hair and scalp feeling clean. I'm prone to dandruff but haven't had any since using this. It doesn't have a greasy feel and washes out easily. It takes some getting used to if you've never used bar shampoo but if you give time to adjust I think you'll like it. Smells great too.

The bar did wash my hair but that was about it. There was no curl definition what so ever and it made my hair oily in 24 hrs. Plus the color comes off and turns your hands teal and leaves a teal residue on the shower. Also I did not like the fragrance.
