One of my favorite books of the year. Beautifully done!
What an amazing way to introduce children to our National Parks! And given the myriad threats to these national treasures, the timing for such a book couldn't be more perfect. As a kid, I grew up in a town that is literally called the "Gateway to Yosemite", so it should be no surprise that I spent a lot of time there growing up. Since those days, I've been to all of the National Parks on the West Coast, and I dream of taking my children to see them as well, so we can enjoy them together. These days we live in Maine, and we hope to make it up to Acadia this summer! My point is, my love for these natural treasures runs deep, and I thrill at anyway I can foster a deeper sense of excitement about the parks within my children. This book is a stupendous way to connect children with the wonders that are our National Parks (particularly children who might not have easy access to a National Park!). The illustrations are perfection, and all the information about the habitats in each park is fantastic. My children are going to go wild over this book when I get my pre-ordered copy in July (can't wait!!).This is a MUST have book for kids. Heck, it's a must have book for ME ! And I plan to be gifting this book to all of our first-grade (and maybe second-grade) teachers in the upcoming school year. MUST. READ.Note: I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley. I pride myself on writing fair and honest reviews.

A must for every library
I’m an elementary school teacher and I snagged a couple of copies of this when it went on sale. It’s beautifully organized into regions of the parks, full of great facts and wonderfully illustrated. I would gauge the reading level at about 4-5th grade, but it would be appropriate to read aloud to younger kids too! It makes a great gift for a teacher in your life- or for your own child’s library!

Absolutely charming
This book is excellent and so worth the money. The illustrations are stunning, and the descriptions and facts are interesting for adults and kids, while remaining accessible and beautiful. We don’t have kids yet, but we love the national parks and I hope that this will be a way to help introduce our future kids to a love of the parks as well:) My love and appreciation to the author and illustrator, this book is truly a treasure to be proud of!

A Beautiful Book
Kate Siber's "National Parks of the U.S.A." is a travel guide for young readers. The illustrations of artist Chris Turnham are glorious. Siber and Turnham have created a celebration of national parks that is a true nonfiction picture book. Only 21 of America's 63 national parks are included in the contents, but the selections represent a cross-section of the 50 states and beyond. The book is a standout for young readers in large part because of the heavy emphasis on the wildlife and marine life to be found within is colorful pages. The book is an important selection for any family library to be visited often.

Only covers about 20 Parks
I love everything about this book, except for the fact that it doesn’t cover all of the national parks. I guess I missed reading that when I was looking at the description. So when I got it, I was a little disappointed. I had hoped to use this book to teach my kids more info about the national parks that we have visited and the ones we are going to this summer. However, only a couple of the parks that I had wanted to cover we’re in this book. But my disappointment aside, this book is a gem. The artwork is brilliant and the fun facts on each park are great. Had I realized it didn’t cover all the parks, I still would have purchased it. But I sure wish it covered more.

Beautiful book for any age!
Wow, this book is so beautiful! I loved Chris Turnham's retro-classic illustrations in The Wish Tree so I pre-ordered this book, and it is even better than I expected. The format is really cool, it reminds me of an old textbook, but so much prettier! Every page is full of information, but it's presented in a crisp graphic and visually approachable way so it never overwhelms. The full-bleed silkscreened illustrations are so beautiful and a refreshing change from a lot of contemporary picture books that look computer-drafted. I bought this for my 3 year old's upcoming birthday, but I think it would work for a wide range of ages and I can definitely see it being treasured for a long time. It wouldn't feel out of place on an adult's mid-century modern coffee table, either! Definitely a book worth giving, or treating yourself to, and a lovely tribute to the wonder of America's National Parks-- it'll make you want to visit them all!
