A New Class of Kayak Fishing
With this Trolling Motor mounted to your Fishing Kayak you are now Fishing in a Whole New Level . Easy to use and install with the proper installation kit. Powerful Motor for its size and weight. The only "Problem" I see is the remote control is a Cheap Plastic Piece of .... It works fine, but it's made of Cheap Material and looks like it will fail any trip out.

Gamechanger! A few quirks to get used to but overall a great motor.
Great motor. Only going to talk about the downsides I've seen:- No sensitivity settings on the Pinpoint GPS feature. When there is very little drift or wind the spotlock behaves a bit erratically as it typically will quickly increase the throttle to full to get you back into position.- Easy to accidentally press the Pinpoint GPS Anchor button and it will whip you around instantly to get you back to that spot if you were moving quickly, be careful!- The piece that connects the remote to the lanyard is extremely thin and made of plastic. Buy one of the custom made brackets people sell online.- The motor will sometimes bug out and continue to beep repeatedly until it is powered off and back on (annoying to have to do on the water sometimes).- There is no volume settings on the beep that is produced by the unit when starting or stopping the throttle, hitting the minimum and maximum throttle speeds, and many other actions. It gets annoying.

Oh, God I love this!
I use it on a Vibe Shearwater and it works amazing! Just amazing! Spotlock should be one of the seven wonders on a kayak. I pair it with a 100ah battery and I’ve not been stranded. Make sure you use the correctwire! 6 ga worked perfect! I 6 foot and about 220 and I get a bit over 4 mph at top speed. Use the cruise and it evens out oversteering on my part! Expensive but worth every penny!

Remote didn’t work
We were excited to get this but when it arrived the remote did not work. It was not something easily fixable by Amazon, the Amazon seller, or the manufacturer so we had to buy another remote for $124.

Remote is Keeping it from 5-Star
This motor is packed with super cool features. I would only dink it a half star if possible. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once mastered it can help you find your way home or return you to your favorite fishing hole. In a popular area here on the South West Florida coast is an area known as 10,000 islands, but you'd swear there are more than that. It's great shallow water fishing dotted by thousands of little mangrove tree islands. Getting lost behind them is a not too uncommon occurrence, but with the built in GPS you can back-track your way home. I find the remote intself to be rather intuitive and easy to use. HOWEVER, for something so important on the water it is not very waterproof -- or at least mine was not. It will leave you stranded as there is no way to operate the motor without one (or a wireless foot controller). Dunk and Done! You'd have to buy a new one which costs $120 to $140. In fact, don't wait -- just buy a spare from the start as even a heavy splash or downpour might drown it. Also, there is no indicator light on the remote. You will not know when it's getting low on batteries (so have extra of those on hand with a small screw driver) nor will you know if the remote is sending a signal. You will only know that it is working by how the motor responds, but since it might be working then the problem could be the motor (another reason an indicator on the remote would be helpful). You will not know if water got into the control unit. BUT, MotorGuide's customer service is excellent and they will help you. I do believe there will soon be a modified remote to address this issue.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
I purchased the Motorguide XI3 Kayak Saltwater Series. It was nice the first trip. Only used less than 2 hours. Just to get familiar with using it. The second trip went well. The third trip rusty water drained out of the head in stowed position. Called customer service they said that I could put silicone around shaft to motor housing. Not motor is not spinning smoothly, bad vibration. Doesn't spin at low settings.I called again and they said I have to bring it to a authorized Motorguide service center. OK I'm on Long Island NY. Closest one Bridgeport CT. They don't service. Next Closest Bayville NJ . Super nice people and extremely busy this time of year and won't be able to look at it for 5 weeks. I understand. Then I try Norwich CT next Closest. They only service it if I purchased their. Then I called Honesdale PA 100 miles away. They don't service Motorguide anymore. They told Motorguide to take off list before. Then I called Blakely PA , he said I haven't delt with them in 20 years. Then I called Tempe PA , they don't service. So you see my frustration. I call back Motorguide and ask if I can send it to them. Nope they don't do that. They have all these dots on the map that says service center but are not accurate.I just wish that they could have better service support. I would not recommend to a friend.Update 4/6/2024.I rinse with fresh water after every use. I stored inside over winter. Now the steering doesn't work. I will probably order part from Trolling motor parts.com and fix myself. Look like some of the service centers are not on the website anymore. Not worth driving 200 + miles to bring to service center for warranty work.

Amazing trolling motor. It will move my Nucanoe unlimited at about 4 and a half mph with no problem.
