Very easy to put together and install

DO NOT BUY! I should’ve listened to my instincts on this one. The mounting brackets damaged the gutters on the hardtop. Not only do they rub the paint off, but there is a little silver clamp type washer that spun itself around and scratched the heck out of the paint while screwing it in. It’s so bad that I need actual body work to repair it (body shop estimate $980). Will post pics later.

The installation process was simpler than I expected. The design of the bracket takes into account the vehicle structure. No additional holes are required. It can be directly connected to the existing mounting points of the vehicle, which is very strong. It is also very convenient to disassemble, and it will not leave scratches or damage to the roof, which is a special plus. In actual use, I especially like its stability and non-slip design. There is no obvious shaking or noise on the luggage rack when driving at high speed. The luggage is very stable after being fixed, and there is no need to worry about it falling on bumpy roads. Its height and design will not affect the vehicle's passage through low areas too much, and the overall user experience is very smooth.

This rack is nice to carry kayaks, canoes, ladders and lumber or, like me, put a cargo rack on. Assembly was straightforward with all parts properly identified and included. The assembly includes lock washers on all bolted areas. The bars and clamps that comprise this rack are heavy steel. The crinkle-coat paint feels durable and doesn't seem to scratch off easily. I left all the bolts hand tight until I installed the racks on the Jeep. The crossbars are adjustable in length and I wanted to make sure the uprights were vertical. Once adjusted, the bolts on the crossbars had to be tightened down pretty hard to stop them from being able to move. Installing this rack would be easiest with two people. Once, I tightened everything up, the rack was very solid. I did notice that the gutter clamps rub on the weather stripping of the door when it is opened and closed. Long term, this could damage the weather-stripping. For holding items down, there are two moveable tie-downs on each cross-bar. The tightening knobs for these tie-downs are very close to the roof and the front one scratch the roof when I slid across. In addition to the moveable tie-downs, there are several slots in the crossbars to use for mounting. I was able to install a cargo basket on this rack with ease. Overall, I would recommend this rack. It is very well-made, all the parts feel heavy duty. However, use care when moving the tie-down points so as not to scratch your roof and also check the door weatherstripping occasional for wear from the rack mount, Update: After our first rainstorm, I noticed some of the mounting hardware starting to rust. -1 star
