Really brilliant diagnostic kit. East to plug and play. Options to identify car make and model. Brought up old cleared faults as well as new faults linked to the engine management light that annoyingly appeared on our Mercedes. Worked out quickly what it was linked to, save a very expensive garage trip. I havent had much comparison to alternative products but I was very pleased at the user friendly interface and the design and build of the device itself. Comes in a nice carry case too

Since receiving I have only tested basic features like scanning for error codes on a Volvo EX30, Fiat 500 and BMW F30 which this performed fine on all 3. It also allowed me to change parameters and code features like disabling stop start. Then out of no where my F30 kept going into limp mode and I used this to attempt to diagnose the issue. Codes were pointing to a fuel pump issue but it was a rather generic code (the fault of BMW not the scanner) but I was then able to monitor the live readings of the HPFP and it was clear that was at fault. Let my garage know and they confirmed it and so saved me a diagnostics charge. A really brilliant tool for those who are repairing cars as a hobby/living.

Machine for the Money seems ok to be fair. Only used twice, so far so good. My main moan is I got with obd lead. Way way too short. Wish now I got the Bluetooth. 4 star is for the lead !! To be fair this let’s the machine down . Lead is real pants

I got this ThinkCar ThinkScan for our cars at home. My husband has used it on both of our recently purchased cars to make sure they were in good condition. I personally don’t have much knowledge about how to use it but after watching him it actually seems quite easy to set up. It gives you step-by-step instructions, so even if you’re not experienced, you can still manage it. It’s already done a full scan of both cars and told us exactly what we needed to do. On one of the cars, it even indicated that it needed a full service, which I got done so that was really helpful. It performs loads of useful diagnostics and what I love most is how much money it can save. In the past, whenever I had car issues, I’d have to take it to a garage just for a diagnostic check which would cost anywhere from £50 to £80. After paying that, you almost feel obliged to get the repair done there because you’ve already spent the money. This tool is brilliant because you can run diagnostics at home and if there’s a problem you can shop around for parts or call a few garages to get quotes. It gives you a much better idea of what you should expect to pay. It really is amazing and I think it’s going to come in very handy for our cars in the future. We’ve only used it a couple of times so far, but it’s already given us great results. I’m really pleased with it and although it’s a bit pricey I see it as a great investment in the long run as it will definitely save money because sometimes just one garage visit can cost more than this device. If you know even a little bit about cars, it’s absolutely worth having.
