It’s great but it comes with its quirks.
It’s a great speaker with its quirks that many reviews do not mention.It needs somewhat of a break in period. At first the sound wasn’t that great. Didn’t sound good past 50% bass would fall off and the sound would compress a lot. After a few hours of mixed music play back it got far better. Highs cleaned up, mids could be better but it’s to be expected. It’s only a 2 way speaker and the bass still falls off at higher volumes but not as aggressively.BEWARE!!!!!!if you play extremely heavy bass like sub 35hz and crank it up it will cut off the side woofers with a audible pop. Seems to be some sort of protection.Battery life is decent. Could be better. Keep the volume at about 40-60% and you will get around 7-8hrs or so. Any higher and the battery gets drained extremely fast.Button controls.These need a lot of work. It’s is nearly impossible to use them without looking. They are symmetrical and it’s often hard to tell when you are turning it on or playing music.Speaking of turning it on.IT IS SLOW!!!!!!It takes a good 15-25secs to boot up and connect to WiFi after you set it up of course. And that leads to another quirk. Every time you turn it on it automatically goes to WiFi. You have to wait a bit then switch to Bluetooth and manually connect from your phones settings. It will not automatically connect to the previous used device like it does on WiFi.The design definitely turns heads. I was brave enough to take it on vacation with us out to a resort in canyon lake. Small town north of San Antonio. We used it by the pool and yes it got splashed a bit, still works fine so durability is there. Just be responsible with it. The mania definitely impressed a lot of people. It definitely outputs a lot of sound for its small size. Highs were clean and bass was strong as long as you don’t turn it up past 80-90% then it falls off. Still overall the audio stayed relatively clean with some bit of audio limiter kicking in at times.The ability to hear audio from all around the speaker is definitely nice. Came in super handy during game nights where we’d all sit at the table and the music could be heard no matter where you sat. It was nice.Not gonna lie. It is on the pricy side. $899 is a hard pill to swallow when there’s other options out there. But man. Those other options don’t look this good. The build quality is nice and the mania has a nice weight to it. Feels solid. If you got the cash to burn. By all means buy it. You’ll learn to live with the quirks after a bit and learn to really like this speaker.

Connectivity to AirPlay flakey and poor at times.
IN BRIGHTEST DAY IN DARKEST NIGHT NO EVIL WILL ESCAPE MY SIGHT! LET THOSE WHO WORSHIP EVIL'S MIGHT BEWARE MY POWER GREEN ... err MANIA'S LIGHT! I just need the ring to recharge :) It can make you feel a bit like Green Lantern. :)So this was the earliest of a line of speakers by Devialet a French company. And it shows. No way to update the firmware in order to fixes for its many problems. I am trying to use it with Apple TV and AirPlay 2 and it doesn't work very well with it. Better with the iPhone as far a the Apple ecosystem is concerned. With the Apple TV it likes to drop the AirPlay in the middle of programs, when changing programs ... and less than 10 hours means you really have to keep it connected to its charging plate.The sound is great but not super duper as the AI claimed. Two subwoofers : great. Packaging great. (I think it may come in green in France!)I am sending it back need a reliable traveling partner for Apple TV.

Happiness but sadness...
Having a pair of Devialet Gemini II ear buds I really fell in love with the build quality, massive sound stage and clarity through all ranges of music. How could I resist trying out their answer to the portable wireless bluetooth speaker?Well, I was slightly disappointed. Bass response is amazing, but as I've read in other reviews, if you listen to something other than EDM or hip hop the sound stage kind of implodes. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it sounded bad with other genres, but it does not justify the price of this speaker. Sadly I will be sending mine back
