Best mochi I have in UK
I know foreigners love sweeter taste and I can tell it’s a complex favour mixed with authentic matcha the bitter taste and very light sugar powder sweet to enhance the layer. Just perfect!!

Better than expected, almost moreish
Mochi I can give or take, matcha I can take, these YAMASAN KYOTO UJI Japanese Matcha Agar Mochi Candy are the best of both worlds. At first I wasn't too sure after I they had arrived, but I finally cracked them open and slipped one into my gaping maw, and, well, I was pleasantly surprised. The texture isn't anything like mochi, more a very, very soft fruit pastille, and there is the faint taste of matcha in there, not overwhelming, but not so weak that it's negligible, it's juuust on the side of being "right". I like them, but that being said, I can see how they can be an "acquired taste".Now, the negative, the asking price is appallingly high, I've seen similar sweets of similar sizes in my local Chinese Supermarkets (also imported from Japan) for a fraction of the price.Still, they are nice.

They taste like fish
They taste so fishy! It's so weird! I can only guess that this is due to the agar (which comes from algae). I really like matcha mochi - I enjoy bittersweet flavour profiles and that is how this tastes: bitter and sweet... And fishy. My partner liked them though???

Unusual texture
These sweets offer a strong matcha taste but the texture is gelatinous and chewy unlike traditional sweets. Worth a try if you're feeling adventurous but they're not for me.

Recognisable matcha flavour
I really like these Japanese agar mochi candies - firstly because they are made of agar and therefore suitable for vegetarians and secondly, because they have a diverse range of flavours. The mochis come in cubes in a 290g bag. The cubes are individually packed for freshness and at first don't start off sweet. Once you get into the centre, you are met with sweetness and then a little bitterness from the matcha which really comes through. Some people may not enjoy the unique matcha flavour however I quite like it - it's not overly strong, quite tame in the flavour so it shouldn't offend most people. The mochi is soft and chewy with a really pleasant texture.

Not awful.
Much better than I imagined they'd be. Very light. I couldn't eat many but my daughter's friend demolished the rest of the package so I guess she was happy! Very overpriced IMO.

Great tasting candy
This bag of Japanese matcha agar mochi candy is good quality and good value. The individually wrapped candies taste great and have a nice texture. The candies texture reminds me of Turkish delight. Overall i enjoy these delicious sweets and would reccomend them.

Really divine matcha green tea mochis!
These little mochi candies were a pleasant surprise! They have a soft, chewy texture with a slight bounce, making them really satisfying to eat. The matcha flavor is authentic, rich, and slightly bitter, which balances out the mild sweetness of the agar jelly. I love that they’re individually wrapped, making them perfect for snacking without worrying about them drying out.Compared to other matcha-based sweets I’ve tried, these have a more natural flavor, without being overly sugary. They pair incredibly well with a cup of green tea or coffee, making for a nice afternoon treat. The portion size is just right—not too small, but not too overwhelming either. If you’re a fan of Japanese sweets, these are a great option. However, if you prefer a stronger sweetness in your snacks, these might be a little too mild for your taste. Overall, they’re a unique and enjoyable treat that I’d happily repurchase.
