Well done.
Wow. I have been a livescribe user since the first Echo, then LS3, then Echo2, and now live pen. Here's what I've learned:1. This app for iphone makes it easier than ever to sync. The app will only sync the pen when the app is open and cap is off. The pen holds 25 pages, enough for me every few days. I like this bec I don't use massive gigs and if I did record I would sync right away.2. Accuracy with AI is pretty darn 95% give or take. Love that I don't have to retype my notes.3. Wish I could delete pages individually but can't.4. As an HR professional I take a LOT of notes during investigatory interviews and such. Very helpful tool and the main reason I keep using their products. Its less intrusive than having a laptop between me and the employee.5. Very nice price point for the bundle. Makes it accessible for students, professionals, and other folks who need to document.

No Audio Recording Software, Deceptive Description
All the older livescribe pens have had audio recording and syncing to text capabilities. The description says audio and recording multiple times. Yet, apparently the software is not on the pen. The notebooks still retain all the menu options to record. The pen simply won’t record. It took a deep dive into google to see that apparently livescribe was sued for privacy concerns and has not given their newest pen the audio recording capabilities. This makes it positively useless for many who used it for ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and even just auditory inclined learners. I had bought it for my husband based on previous experience with all other livescribe pens as well as the description. The first package came ripped open with only the notebooks. The replacement we found out it didn’t work as advertised or as other pens have. We returned this and expect a full refund as the product description is faulty and they’re banking on people’s previous good experiences with their older pen models. Will never buy again the deception was egregious.

Really useful and cheap
I was an early adopter of the Remarkable tablet, wanting to have my notes in digital format for storing, sharing and searching. After nearly 5 years, my Remarkable is getting a bit beaten up and glitchy and I was considering upgrading to the new Remarkable pro when this caught my eye. Why go through the compromises of writing on something that "feels like paper" when, um, you can just write on paper? Plus, a price of 50 bucks for the pen and a few notebooks seemed like a much easier pill to swallow than close to $600 (plus tax) for new pro-version tablet. This works surprisingly well - of course there is no lag in writing on the (real) paper and there are no weird artifacts on the screen like my old Remarkable had - although my phone captures and transcribes my output in chunks. The APP is a bit limited but works well for my notetaking and sharing needs. Pairing the pen and my iphone was painless. The handwriting to text transcription is really really good - it does a way better than other alternatives - including taking a photo of handwritten content and using normal OCR technology. Sharing content via pdfs or straight text is pretty simple as well.Even in the short time I have had the product I have noticed the APP being updated in store regularly with some functionality coming out (for example the ability to share wasn't there when I first used the APP). I'd like to see a bigger range of compatible notebooks, right now there are just a spiral letter and A5 notebooks - a casebound notebook and a calendar / planner would be pretty cool.

If all you are looking for is an easy way to record digital handwriting, this works fine. I was a previous Echo user and I was a bit disappointed with how limited the app this device uses is. You can not use the more advanced Livescribe+ app so sharing and exporting is not a simple. Voice recording is limited, it uses your phone and interactions with the notebook, using icons and text location, don't seem to work. Battery life is good, pen ergonomics are OK. With the lack of extra features, slow sync and lack of decent export functions I'm finding it difficult to adopt this vs just taking a photo of my paper notes into any of the common note taking applications.

Convenient, easy to use but backup to cloud needs work
It works well most of the time and it’s helpful to have my notes on the phone to review later. The text in the notes is detailed enough for the ocr to work properly. The ocr is decent. The pen has s comfortable to use and its ink is string even after 50+ pages of detailed notes. However the refresh is spotty at best. The lag time for the notes to get to the phone from the pen is not a constant. Sometimes I don’t see the notes for days- let alone real time! In many instances I have not seen some notes appear at all but that is rare.I don’t know if this marketed as a drawing tablet bcs it’s not useful as one. It is only black and white - no shades.

Newer product just launched
I wasn’t a fan of the Livepen App and stopped using the pen and app shortly after purchasing it in December 2024. I had been a user of the Echo 2 and Symphony pens for several years and the Livepen hardware and app were quite the downgrade from the Livescribe + app and the Symphony and Echo2. I just received an email from the LivePen/ Livescribe maker Anoto that the new Inq pen and app have just recently launched and are offering a significant discount to those of us that had recently purchased the Livepen.
