Great tool for the video enthousiasts.
I’ve been using the Hohem iSteady M7 for a while now, and it’s honestly one of the best gimbal tools I’ve come across—especially at this price point. The stabilization is impressive; even when I’m walking or trying to capture action shots, my footage stays incredibly smooth. It’s clear this gimbal was built with serious attention to detail. But the real game-changer here is the companion app and its AI-powered tracking. The app uses advanced AI to automatically follow your subject, and it’s incredibly intuitive—just a simple hand gesture and it locks on, keeping you or your subject perfectly in frame. I’ve used it to track both people and pets, and every time, the app’s AI does a fantastic job of keeping up, which has made filming so much easier and more dynamic. Instead of constantly adjusting the gimbal manually, I can just let the app do the work and focus on my shot. Setup was straightforward, and the gimbal feels sturdy yet comfortable to hold. The battery easily lasts through my filming sessions, and switching between modes is quick and easy once you learn the basics. If you want a gimbal that offers effortless, intelligent tracking through a smart app—plus rock-solid stabilization—the iSteady M7 is an excellent choice. It’s a smart investment for anyone looking to upgrade their mobile videography without breaking the bank.

Worth the money
Great Gimbal for Smooth, Creative Shots Very happy with this purchase. The Hohem iSteady M7 is very well made and feels solid and durable. It’s fun to use and makes getting smooth, steady footage much easier. I especially like using it for tricky shots and creative camera angles that would be difficult to capture by hand. The tracking features and built-in extension rod are also very useful. Overall, excellent quality and a great addition to my smartphone filming setup. Definitely happy with the purchase!

Super Steady Shots
Picked up the iSteady M7 to improve my social media shots and it's awesome. The build-quality is great. Everything feels professional quality and solid. It has a nice weight to it without being too heavy to operate all day long. The arms securely lock in place when transporting, and the AI light and remote control screen are securely attached so they don't fall off when the action cranks up. The clamp holds your phone securely, no matter the shooting conditions. The included carrying Carl's protects everything while transporting, keeping it secure without adding bulk. The ergonomics make it comfortable to operate for extended periods of time. The Hohem Joy app is awesome. It gives you tons of control of your shooting. Numerous templates and inspirations are included too, allowing anyone to start shooting like a pro right out of the box. Tutorials make familiarizing yourself with the features and functionality simple. The gimbal controls are easy to learn while offering tons of flexibility to match your shooting style.the extended selfie stick being built into the design offers a lot of additional versatility in your shots. Battery life lasts for hours and it's nice to be able to charge your phone while shooting too using the including cables. The included tripod is nice for hands-free shooting and can be attacked at the side to be used as an additional handle to better control the gimbal. The wireless remote is super cool. It lets you control the gimbal without having have it in your hand. It offers the ability to have one person remotely control the gimbal while another runs the physical gimbal. The AI light offers colors cold to warm, lighting the shot perfectly and making sure you catch all the details. It assists in better subject tracking and keeps your subject centered, be it human or animal. A simple double-tap or tap and drag of the screen is all it takes to select your subject and AI does the rest to make you shoot like a pro. I love this gimbal. I own numerous camera gimbals and the iSteady M7 is the best smartphone gimbal I've ever used. It comes packed with features to let you shoot like a professional without the need for a masters degree to operate and get those pro shots. There's no better value for the money.

The detachable screen and selfie stick mode are amazing!
First, a note on the packaging of my unit: I've gotten several gimbals from this seller (SZ_ABTO Security), and every single one of them has come thoroughly wrapped and taped in water-impermeable plastic. I know it's not Amazon doing this, because just under the wrapping they always include a nice microfiber cloth with their logo on it ... so thanks guys. This one got rained on a bit, and I appreciate your attention to detail that saved it from being exposed to any moisture. Now, onto the gimbal itself: I got this to use with my Chunky Monkey of a phone (a Samsung S24 Ultra) and it handles it like a champ. Zero issues with stabilization even though it's one of the heaviest phones you can get. On top of that, it's dead-simple to balance, with only one adjustment needed ... the difference between that and the gimbals I use with my cameras is astounding. This literally takes 10 seconds to balance and you're done. This gimbal itself is also a bit of a chunky monkey, which suites me perfectly. It's well-built and, feels solid in my hand. The iSteady M7 held my phone (with its case on) easily and stabilized my shots well. Its core functions are on-point. I can't speak to the battery life because I haven't used it in more than an hour sprint, but I can say that a 1 hour session doesn't put a dent in it. The big news, though, is the improvements that Hohem has made since the the M6. Remember 15 years ago when cell phones got better every year, and each new generation got some revolutionary upgrade that set it apart from the last ... before they all became generic monolithic chunks of glass? When the manufacturers were actually creative? That time is NOW for gimals. What a fun time to be into this hobby. Here's the skinny. I'll start with the boring iterative stuff and save the good stuff for last: - Redesigned removable AI-tracking camera the usual boring iterative improvements here, plus the new one locks on, my recollection is that the old one could be knocked off. Solid fix. - Increased payload capacity to handle larger phones (my chunky monkey and I thank you, Hohem), cases, and add-on lenses without any trouble. - Motor-out-of-the-way wide-angle mode (4-click trigger on the handle) to remove obstructions when shooting with ultra-wide lenses. - Super easy transition from portrait to vertical with just a twist of the phone (I *think* this is new, but don't quote me on that) - Built-in selfie stick ... give the top a yank up from the handle and it appears out of nowhere. At first I thought "neat, that's a nice improvement" ... but then I realized -- I was using a selfie stick, and my hands were still on the controls. This improvement is right up there with the screen - a huge leap in usability, and a very creative feature addition. A+, Hohem. - THE FREAKIN AMAZING ONE: It has a **detachable** 1.4″ full-color touchscreen remote that previews a live feed from the AI tracker and lets you control all of the gimbals features, including letting you select tracking targts ... WIRELESSLY! I mean, the gestures were neat and useful on the M6, but being able to just tap-tap a target on the screen while you have it on a tripod is a generational improvements. The highlight for me is unquestionably the detachable screen. It’s not just a gimmick -- you wireless live preview from the AI camera so you can see exactly what the gimbal is tracking, which can sometimes be slightly different that the phone's view. It also helps to make it easier to tweak the phone's position in the clamp to better align it with the sensor, and gives the obvious improvement in the ease-of-use for the AI tracking. Overall, Hohem nailed it with this thing. It's got all the incremental improvements you'd expect from an iterative upgrade, and TWO neat and super useful, extra-creative fuctionality adds that I really didn't expect (the selfie stick and the wireless screen). If you've got the old one and you use the tracking features, this is definitely worth it. Also, in case anyone loses it, I put photos of the manual in with the rest of my pictures.

Impressive
Just when you thought gimbals have reached their zenith, Hohem brings fresh ideas to the table with their iSteady M7. This is a modestly priced, smart, feature-rich gimbal. This model is suited to off-the-cuff, solo content creators. The setup is straight-forward. First, download the Hohem Joy app from your app store, unlock all motors, mount the phone and balance. Then pair the gimbal to the phone from the app, and way you go. There are two main innovations that set the M7 apart from the rest. First is the detachable “AI” tracker. Rather than relying on software to track its subjects (person or object), the tiny AI tracker itself contains a camera that tracks your movements. You can use gestures to start/stop the tracking, and reframe (if you want to off set the composition—the default is center composition). The tracking is assured and consistent. The tracker has two feet that are magnetic, so you can stick it onto any metal object (say, a light pole) for flexibility. This tiny unit also has a built-in LED light with RGB settings (can be controlled from the remote). The second is its detachable remote control with a 1 ½” square touch screen. With this unit, you can monitor what the AI tracker is seeing and make all the adjustments. Once detached, the remote has a range of 10 meters and it gives you full control of the gimbal’s movements and features, such as its modes like Pan Follow (tilt motor locked), Pan Tilt Follow, POV (all unlocked including roll motor), and Custom (you can unlock Tilt, Roll, and Pan). For usability, however, you can use the front trigger to quickly change modes: for instance, when you are in the PF mode, single press and hold enables the lock mode; and single click, release then hold puts it in the sports mode. The sports mode allows the gimbal to quickly follow the action by closely mirrorring your movements. There are attachments you can pick up. For instance, a handle extention for more assured and secure handling. There is a standard female thread to attach a mic, for instance (see picture). As mentioned above, this gimbal is targeted toward solo content creators, as such it telescopes out to maximum of around 7 ½” long to suit diverse shooting situations. The battery life is around 12 hours, which from my experience is about right. As an added bonus, you can also use the gimbal as a power bank for when your devices lose their juice. Overall, this is an impressive product that offers a lot of innovation at a reasonable price point. I would highly recommend this product.

among the best smartphone gimbals
I hadn't upgraded my phone gimbal for several years, so I was very surprised that Hohem makes the iSteady M7 with ai tracking module. I've had a chance to use it for work in real estate, brought it to the gym, and for walks around parks. WIth how powerful smartphones are now, I use them more and more compared to my professional cameras, so it's important to have a gimbal as well for stabilization. The stabilization is very useful especially in night time, or low light settings, because smartphones can't stabilize themselves well in those conditions. I like that it's easy to set up, balance, and start shooting. A quick 10 minute read of the tutorial helps understand each buttons' functions. The M7 is also very light, despite being a "heavier" phone gimbal, and I am able to walk around with it tirelessly for several hours. Connection to the Hohem Joy app is easy, but I do find that using the camera through the Hohem Joy app somehow disables my Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra stabilization and it can be shaky. So I end up using the android's native camera app instead and it's buttery smooth again. It's a small gimbal, but not small like a pocket gimbal. That being said it's very smooth and I love that the AI tracking module works very well especially if it can see your face. I've found that the AI tracking tends to "miss" if your back is turned to it a lot -- so I feel this is an area of improvement for Hohem. Maybe with a firmware update or designing an upgradeable advanced AI module v2? Special mention to Kate at Hohem customer service for helping me replace a rubber motor cover that I lost. She was very helpful during our entire interaction.

Good gimbal for workflow and hobby use, but I still prefer DJI
I bought the Hohem iSteady M7 gimbal because I wanted a smartphone stabilizer that could work for both hobby filming and a more professional workflow. Overall, it is a good product. The stabilization does what it is supposed to do, and it can definitely help make phone footage look smoother and more controlled compared to handheld filming. For YouTube, studio work, hobby videos, travel clips, or general content creation, it has useful features. The magnetic AI tracker and fill light are nice additions, especially if you film by yourself and need the camera to follow you or want a little extra light without adding more gear. The build quality feels decent, and it has enough functionality to be useful in a small recording setup or mobile filming setup. That said, I am not a huge fan of it personally. It works, but I still prefer DJI products. The Hohem has good features, but the overall feel, workflow, and user experience just do not hit the same for me compared to DJI gear. For value for money, I think it depends on what you need. If you want a feature-packed smartphone gimbal with AI tracking and a fill light, this can be a solid option. If you already like DJI products and are used to that ecosystem, you may feel the same way I do. Would I buy it again? Maybe, but if I had to choose for myself, I would probably lean toward DJI.

Professional tool, approachable for beginners
I wanted a gimbal for my son’s YouTube videos and our family videos. The iSteady 7 has been perfect for our needs — and honestly offers more specs than I expected at this price. It feels like a professional tool, but still approachable for beginners. The device itself feels sturdy and well-made with a quality carrying case. Setup: As a first-time gimbal user, I found the instructions clear and the tutorial videos very helpful. Once you understand the features, the device does the hard work for you. I also appreciated the numbered stickers on the device itself to guide you. Balancing: took a little trial and error. The device shuts off after a few beeps if it’s not balanced correctly (fail safe), but I learned all three axes need to be unlocked for it to self-balance. Once set, it’s impressive how well it works. Remote: The touchscreen remote is intuitive and fun to use. Switching between front/rear cameras or portrait/landscape takes just a few button presses. Still working on memorizing the commands! Shooting: I mostly used PF (pan follow) mode and it smoothly tracks both people and objects. The AI tracking symbols blew my son away — it’s surprisingly accurate and responsive. My son’s videos look noticeably smoother, and the AI object tracking has been amazing for keeping up with his constant movement. Overall, this gimbal has more features than I’ll probably ever use, but it’s been a great learning experience for both me and my son. I’d love to see more beginner-friendly tutorials for the different shooting modes. The included app is a nice bonus, I still need to play around with it. For the price, this is a powerful little device that makes a big difference in video quality.

Nice but not great! A bit disappointing
Not really that simple to use! The video does not display on the remove once I remove from the device the remote video image disappears! You also need the microphone because you can’t plug the ones you already have as it doesn’t fit with balancing! Need also the tripod as the one it goes with is so short not even worth it!
