Essential Fashion Illustration: Color and Medium Paperback – October 15, 2008

I saw this on Amazon a long time ago, when it was still a pre-order item, and was intrigued (especially since it was one of those books that doesn't have sample pages to look at!!). I was excited when I came across it at a bookstore a couple weeks back, but it was wrapped in plastic so I couldn't check it out. I decided to order it on Amazon, figuring I could always return it if I didn't like, since Amazon's great about returns. This book is great. It goes through sections by medium (pencil, watercolor, pastels, marker, digital/mixed media, I believe in that order) and has a illustrations in each section with step-by-step instructions for how they were made. There are larger images showing major steps of the process (like the initial sketch, basic coloring, more detailed coloring, completed image) taking up most of the pages, and smaller photos of the artists working on their illustrations line the bottom. I haven't had time to sit and illustrate anything with the book as reference yet, but I'm looking forward to it!

This book really shows how different mediums are used to create diferent looks. it kinda gives you a how-to but not in depth. shows meduims, pencils, markers, pastels, watercolors. the pictures are beautiful.
