Great texture, easy egg substitute for baking. NOT for sprouting
OK, so I'm onlyl a little disappointed that these basil seeds are sterilized and will not sprout (but not surprised, really).Other than that, they are wonderful to use along with or instead of chia seeds. Personally, I prefer the fun texture of soaked basil seeds over chia because they are larger and can absorb more liquid and still give a little crunch. They also have a bit more iron than chia, which I'm always seeking to increase. Also, it grinds up easily for use in egg-free baking, although it gives baked goods a speckled appearance like black pepper.Price-wise, this is pretty much what I expect to pay for this size container, so A+.

Good quality!
I started eating chia seeds several years ago, especially in my green smoothies or in chia seed pudding. Then I started reading about the benefits of basil seeds & have been curious about them since then. It's worth looking up the benefits yourself to see if they're something that would be beneficial to add to your own health regimen. Overall, I'd recommend these!

Nice addition for more fiber
This review is for the jar of Pardesi sweet basil seeds. This is a generously-sized combination shaker/spoon dip jar about the size of a large jar of spice. It's very full of tiny basil seeds, comparable to chia seeds. When added to a dish they begin to form a thickening jelly, but are supposedly very good for adding fiber to your diet. I fold them in to applesauce and oatmeal. There's no flavor to speak of, but left too long they can get a "congealed" consistency that I find unpleasant, so I eat whatever I add them to right away.

Great in drinks!
After a fair amount of googling, I figured out that the most common thing to use basil seeds for is drinks and puddings. I threw caution to the winds and put 2 TSPNs into my glass of grapefruit Spindrift.Amazing.Really good, and they do just what basil seeds are supposed to do - the exterior absorbs a bunch of liquid and sweells up into a clearish bubble around the slightly chewy/crunchy core of the seed, making a semi solid/gel layer on the top of the drink that is really tasty and a lot of fun to eat.Glad I got these!

Good with Lemonade
I've been looking forward to getting some basil seeds for years but finally ordered these. I'd first seem them added to lemonade, where they would swell up and sink to the bottom of the glass. With a clear glass, they made plain lemonade more interesting in appearance and tastier. In addition, they add fiber and other nutrients. The container has a flip lid for either shaking or using a spoon. These seeds work just like I remembered, swelling up after soaking a bit. There is quite a bit in the container, so I'm looking forward to adding them to puddings and more beverages. Good addition to the pantry.

Good intact basil seeds
The basil seeds have a mild, pleasant aroma and flavor. They're firm but easy to bite through. Most have the natural seed coating that becomes gel in water. While these are intended for direct consumption as seeds, it is possible to sprout these for the greens (good value for microgreen or general gardening purposes).

Nice
I've been using chia seeds for a while, and wanted to try out basil seeds. They are very similar and actually higher in some ways nutritionally. Good in smoothies. They smell and taste fresh.

Fresh Basil Seeds - Simply Rehydrate and Use in Your Favorite Recipes
The Pardesi Sweet Basil Seeds are a great option if you're looking to add a little crunch and nutrients to your diet. The seeds are very similar to chia seeds in that they create a little gel around them when hydrated with liquids. The seeds add a nice little crunch to smoothies and drinks, and if you're into the whole nut milk pudding thing (similar to chia seed pudding), these work great to make a healthy pudding. The seeds are fresh and fairly neutral in flavor. It's a good ingredient to add a few more nutrients into your diet.
