Conant TH6LFB Vermont Weather Station with Living Brass Finish

This is a very nice classic outdoor thermometer, easy to install and very readable.

Well made of beautiful brass. I tested the accuracy and it was spot on with what my other thermometers read. Great size (4 in diameter) for a porch or other area where you don’t want a big bulky thermometer. It’s also easier to read than a mercury style thermometer.

From a functional stand point this is fine. From a practical standpoint of a well made piece of equipment for outdoor decoration, it fails miserably. Cheaply made and overall very disappointing but it was the right size for the spot in which it was going to be placed and not in a very noticeable spot in the back of the garden so I kept it for that application. So far it's ok, time will tell if it peels or discolors, not sure, but definitely buying a better one for the more public spot in the front yard.

I really like the looks of this item and it's impressively well-made. Easy to put up and it seems made to last. However, I mounted it outside a modern window with built-in screens that can't be moved out of the way, and the numbers are so small that it's very hard to read them through the mesh, even with the aid of a flashlight. Ironically, I bought this to replace a red-alcohol thermometer because it was hopeless to read its tiny digits through the screen. This dial thermometer's digits are big enough to at least give me a fighting chance of distinguishing 80 from 90 or 20 from 30, although it's not easy.

ti was much smaller than I expected from the picture and the other items presented along with this product (this is an outdoor thermometer and with 20/20 vision, the numbers are not visable from more than 5 feet away. Seems to be very impractical).. Also, I sent an email asking where to send it for a refund (there was no return mailing label in the box) and I still have not received an email back on how to return the item for a refund.. So overall, i'm disappointed.. kurt
