I doubt you'll find a better compass and navigation tool at this price point. It's a bit heavy but that's because it's made out of quality material not just plastic but metal and it has a wide range of practical uses and circumnavigating. You could buy a military grade substitute for $100 more and you wouldn't have anything more than what you have here. So this gets Max Stars , my approval and I would buy from this company again!

I have always wanted a good compass and I decided to buy this one and for 20 bucks you can't go wrong. It is well made and it will last a long time. I bought it for use in the car while traveling. As for hiking, if you are worried about having to much extra weight you might want to use a plastic one, but if you are not, this is a nice compass.

The compass is smooth. The sighting mechanism and eyepiece adjustment work well. This is a heavy item. The wrist strap is not much use as it's fitted to the clamp to keep the compass closed, so the clamp comes undone. It does not work well to place on a map like the wholly clear map compasses, but it can work. The inclinometer is not particularly accurate and the pointer sticks. But it's OK as a general guide. In all a hefty compass, which may stand some knocks. But for mapping, you are better off with one of the map compasses, which are also robust and way lighter to hang around your neck. But it's fun to have.

Hi I am 12 years old and I am very happy with the purchase of my bronze Anbte compass I have not tested it in the mountains yet but overall it is very durable easy to read and the florescent is cool and I am pretty sure it is accurate its a little heavy if you are counting ounces on your hike. i looked at many others and I think for a small budget this is the best compass. Overall I am really happy and great value .

Okay, as a bunch of other reviewers have already noted, this thing is really heavy. Not a good thing for backpacking even if you are not counting ounces. However, this thing is built like a tank. It is also loaded with a lot of useful features. My favorite feature is the peep hole to take your readings at eye level. To say there are better options out there is an understatement. BUT, this thing is great for training especially if you have a bunch of scouts or JROTC's you need to teach navigation skills. You can't beat the price or the ruggedness.
