On the shoulders of giants.
I'm always excited when I get to watch an international horror as asian cinema has some truly cut diamonds within the rough. This time Thailand has come out swinging wanting in on the action with this 2004 release. Following the rise of such legendary asian horrors such as Ringu and the Ju-On franchise, Thailand's dual directors for this film decided they would have a go at creating their own vengeful Yurei. We follow a photographer and his partner through this story, Tun and Jane, who's lives change after they accidentally run over a young women in the road. They decide however not to check on this women but to simply drive off, in hopes of avoiding any consequences. Unfortunately for them prison time is the least of worries as shadowy spectres begin to start turning up on Tun's photographs, all looking more and more like a young women.I have been eager to watch this for a long time as it's near impossible to buy on dvd. I can say this is easily a must see if you're a fan of any of the above horrors. The film nails it with its haunting atmosphere and its chilling tension from 10 minutes into the film. The story is interesting and throws a few curve balls at you too which personally made the film even more intense then it already was. Its definitely scary, there are a couple of jump scares here and there but much in the same vein as Ju-On/The Grudge it's used purposefully and not wasted for cheap tricks. This film should not be confused with its remake counterpart as its apparently awful. But much like how The Ring and The Grudge were brought to America with success, Hollywood likes to bleed things until it's dead so it seems the remake to this was the one to suffer. With all that being said if you want to watch something spooky for Halloween weekend I'd give this a go. It's to rent on Prime for £2.50. If you dont mind subtitles. This is definitely up there with the iconic long black haired duo, but better? Not quite, but atleast they can hold hands. 8.5/10

A fresh take on the "ghost" genre
It is an amazing film, really surprised me, the acting was good and the tone of the movie was suspenseful and eerie. The storyline was fresh and satisfying, if you don't mind reading the English subtitles and listening to Thai ( which I didn't as I go to Thailand often) then this movie is the one to watch especially if it is your first "ghost" movie. Highly recommended for anyone who want to expand upon their horror collection

a bit predictable, but OK
Not a new idea - but well executed.

Good storyline
I enjoyed this one. It’s a good storyline which I won’t give away. If you liked Dark Water or Ju-on you’ll like this one.

Thai version of modern Jap horror
This is pretty much what it says on the box. Abused girl returns to haunt her abusers and appears in the photos taken by a young photographer. Flashbacks and effects create the story, which is perfectly adequate for the price. If you like 'Ringu' or similar recent Japanese horror films, you won't be too disappointed. It won't win any awards but will while away a night in.

Ashamed to say
This is a good film, although, and I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer the american version.
