While researching steamers I discovered these "gloves" which look like mittens to me. Call them what you want, they are absolutely essential kit for safety when using a steamer. They are totally effective, intuitive to use, light weight and inexpensive. Highly, highly recommended.

They get the job done, it is just you can feel the heat from the steam very quickly, so just be careful not to be directly on the steam, I use them to grab the sleeves of my shirts and pull and I cant hold them for long since they do start to heat up, I might use them for a while and get better ones or just use oven mitts, but other than that they are fine. The other reviews about the size are true so just beware, I have big hands and they fit snug (XL glove size) but my girlfriend (M glove size) finds them way too large to the point that she feels clumsy with them. I like that they are thin enough to use them for me but maybe they could do with a *little* bit more thickness as to not get as warm. Still very usable and recommended to avoid steam burns.

I ordered this item for my wife as she’s usually ironing on an ironing board & this upright stands works better & makes it easier for her to steam her garments. She is very happy with this item, we gave it 5 star.

I have these 3 stars because while they do protect from the steam, it was impossible to have any grip at all on the clothing. Because of this, I returned this item.

Makes steaming safer and easier! You hands feel the heat but you don’t get burned. I can basically steam over my hand so clothes end up looking better. Works great!!

Gloves make the steamer so much safer to use. Often I just wear one glove to hold on the back of the fabric as support. These fit my hand well and are tall enough to cover above my wrist.

Lighter than expected but they did protect my hands from the steam. I have not had to wash then yet, but they look as though they would wash readily.

If you’re buying a garment steamer for the first time you need to buy some protective mittens as the steam is really hot, much more than I expected. These mittens are excellent because they’re thin so you can still use your hands properly but they also work very effectively to protect your hands from the steam. Also they’re a bit space age which is nice.

Works great when steaming clothes and does not allow the heat to get in and burn you. Just dont leave the steamer on your hand for to long a time as it will burn eventually
