Superior Suction!
What can I say... Charles has become a new member of our family loved by all (except the dog-who is scared of Charles' face, as we wheel him around the home, believing him to be competition for his position as favoured household pet)!Things to love;1. Variable suction (controlled by a slide panel at the top of the hose section) from light, for dust, on furnishings, to extreme, for inground soot, on the carpet ( And I mean EXTREME- beware small change, earring backs & other loose floor debris)!2. Lightweight & easily manouverable ( particularly important as I have to carry it up & down stairs).3. Massive capacity for collection before bag needs replacing, yet the body of the unit is small enough to store away, easily, under our stairs.4. Obvious advantage of being able to suck up liquid spills & unblock plugholes as well as standard, everyday dry dirt. (Hubby finds it useful for cleaning the wood burner out, the morning after use, too).5. Separate lid (housing motor) -easily clips, & lifts, on & off, with no hinges, so easy access for fitting & removing bags & clearing obstructions in hose.6. Excellent quality filter (my kids have asthma & eczema so this is vital for us as a family).7. Fun design & ease of use- the kids are actually happy to vacuum their own rooms, without help or complaint, & have even volunteered to do others!Small niggles;1. I have to take final hose/tube section off to fit in the cupboard as it's so long.2. The cable for the plug is lovely & long but it can slip down, over the body of the vacuum, when packed away, as the only way to store it is to wind it round it's lid/hat (a couple more 'cable tidy' hook's on the lid would solve this problem- as the one supplied is not enough to hold it up all the way around).Summary; What's not to love... in addition its British made- so no problems with getting spare parts, replacement filters & bags etc!

Perfect for wet and dry hoovering
This product was recommended by an electrician friend when we were looking at the purchase of the Henry version. He said for a bit more get a Charlie as it can hoover wet and dry. A few weeks later it got tested for real as we are renovating our builder hit a heating pipe. I was able to run get the Charlie put the water filter in and put the hose over the pipe while we drained the system. Worked perfectly saved me lots of money in potential water damage.

Not even for DIY use 😒
First of all description about power not true it say 1060w but actually on hoover it say 1000w.I checked all reviews and I didn’t get what people here are telling. As what I got is weak expensive nothing very unhappy. Then better get Titan from screwfix for £75 wet and dry and it sucks Charles in like a peanutTotally rubbish hoover.

Hooray for Henry...
...and 3 cheers for Charles! Another simply brilliant and brilliantly simple machine from Numatic. I have had ideas floating about in my head for a couple of weeks; cleaning ash out of the woodburning stoves, and the difficulties of washing a 300 year old stone floor (not even remotely smooth) in a cottage where wellies don't necessarily get left at the back door. This fills in the gaps left by the Henry I already have. It comes complete with a set of tools (not made altogether clear in the description) which includes a handy and efficient floor tool with a sort of double squeegee which would be really good on normal smooth floors, but which I shall be surprised if I don't have to replace regularly on my rough ones. Very good for cleaning out the shower drain without bending or groping about. Having had, in the past, Dyson, Hoover and Vax machines, this is my third Henry, and I would always choose them again.

Powerful little devil!
Setting up was really easy, cos the manual showed each process in detail. You have to take the wet function filter out, as it is shipped with this in place. place a bag inside, making sure the fitting is firmly over the input nozzle, and then add the dust filter (loose in the box) replace the lid and Charles is ready to go. Screw the hose in place, choose your fitting for the job in hand and plug in.The power it has is quite surprising! Mine tried to hoover up the carpet, and the rug in the main living room! It did pick up all sorts of things - loose stones that had been walked into the house were no problem. a good test of a vacuum is to take the Floor fitting off of the hose and put the open end of the hose against the ceiling. It should hold the weight of the hose easliy, and this one does that and is quite a yank to remove. Highly pleased with "Charles" and though I have yet to have a need to use him in "Wet" mode, but I assume that he will perform as well in that mode as he does in "Dry"

Very good dry bagged vacuume cleaner with wet use available if wanted
Easy to put together. It came with a wide selection of attachments. I especially like the small rectangular end which can have a brush slid on and off it - as with the brush on it is very good to use to dust vacuume hard surfaces in the kitchen, living room, windowsils, etc; and without the brush it is useful for the stairs, sofa and other soft furnishings. I got the Charles because it can be used for a wet emergency - which I hope not to ever have. Of course in a plumbing emergency I will have to remember to remove the bag, remove the filter and fit the wet overflow sensor. The Charles is very a powerful unit. There is no switching between high and low power. There is no clever flex winding mechanism on the model I received. I reckon that I have gone slightly overkill on power and size by buying this model. It is quite effortous to use, but I am OK with this, but some others might not be. Overal though I am very content with the Charles I received and used today to clean my whole house. It seems a bit wierd going back to a bagged vacuume cleaner, not knowing when it is full or empty by sight. But the bag in it holds 14 litres (!) so will probably need changing 6 monthly at most.

Not up to the standard of the Henry.
This vacuum dose all that the popular Henry does but lacks one important feature - it does not have the automatic cable rewind facility. The cable must be wrapped around the unit, very laborious. Haven't tried the wet vacuum yet so no comment.
