Yamamotoyama - Green Tea 16 bags

Smooth taste ; will purchase again

Years ago I had the best tea at a sushi restaurant and asked what they were serving. They showed me a box of this Yamamotoyama sencha green tea and I’ve been buying it ever since. It’s a mild, smooth taste and consistently good. Highly recommend.

Very flavorful green tea. Matcha quality. I can’t have he caffeine that’s in matcha which is my favorite so I was suprised that this was so rich And Very close to the taste ofIt. Not your average green tea. I tasted this at a meetingAbout 5 months ago andIt’s the only green tea worth drinking.

This is my favorite plain green tea. I drink it almost everyday with some lemon and honey. My former favorite was Yamamotoyama's Sushi Bar Style green tea, but after trying this I've switched over. I used to steep two Sushi Bar Style tea bags for six minutes in 16 oz of water. When I tried the same method with this tea, it came out way too strong. I now steep one bag of this green tea for 3 minutes, and get the same results as two bags of the other tea steeped for six minutes. If I don't have any lemon or if I just feel like a change of pace, I drink this brand's Gen-Mai Cha, which is also fantastic.

Alas, I was looking for a more fishy green tea.

Yamamotoyama has many different grades of Japanese Sencha, including several offered on Amazon. This is problably considered one of their 'lower' grades or an everyday tea.It is still a very authentic and tasteful cup of tea, compared to many of the other offerings posing as Green Tea. Most Japanese Senchas have a 'grassy' smell and/or taste compared to green teas from other countries. This tea also has a 'grassy' smell and taste.If you brew the bag too long, the taste will become stronger, so you can adjust the brewing time. This is a reasonable priced Sencha, that you can drink everyday (I drink it throughout the day) and then move on to higher grades of Japanese Sencha.Amazon and many stores, sell the same box individually. You could try 1 box, if you don't like it, nothing lost. I bought the 6 pack for convenience, and the price was lower when I bought it.

I've been testing out a lot of teas lately. I started with Jasmine and went to Green tea. They're both OKAY, I bought them mostly for health benefits. Both teas are pretty subtle. It is Japanese so you know the quality is at least there. Each cup of tea I brew has a light green color and I add some honey so it's tolerable. It's different from British black tea which is addicting and sweet, but I like to have tea instead of coffee so I will continue to use this. My favorite however is Matcha.
