Magical Lights at a Reasonable Price + Amazing Customer Service
These solar-powered pagoda-style lanterns are absolutely lovely. After much research and comparison-shopping, I chose these lights from solartech-led and am so glad I did.1) Super easy to put together. The instructions are totally clear.2) Even though they're plastic, they're fairly sturdy and not cheap-looking at all. They look far more expensive than they are.3) Each lantern has 3 separate solar panels on top, which maximizes the amount of sunlight they absorb and gives you more flexibility on how you position them in your yard.4) The light they cast is warm, clean, and soothing. Not that piercing blue-tinged light nor that murky orange light.5) If you have any questions or concerns, the customer service team at solartech-led is fantastic. They respond right away and go above and beyond to make things right.6) The lanterns end up costing about $10 each, which is totally reasonable for the level of beauty and durability you get. I've spent more on other brands of plastic solar lights many times before and they always fell apart.7) You'll want more than one box. Once you see how these lights transform your yard, you'll end up buying several boxes! Enjoy!

A cut above the ordinary lighting for your landscape.
This is my second set of these lights, and they are just what I want in my yard. WAY better looking than the less expensive cylinder style that is more commonly used. They shed a nice, refined light under my palm trees out front, and a warm glow in the backyard flower beds. Really a great buy!

Nice, but what's this milky white glue?
While I like the concept and look of these lanterns, the problem I keep running into is that in order to charge them up, you need to leave them out in the sun. OK, but there is glue inside, possibly to hold the solar panels in place, that melts if the sun is too hot. This melting glue runs through the unit and seals the unit shut (also visible from the outside), so you can't twist it to change the battery or turn on/off the switch. They sometime stop functioning because the switch gets sticky. I've had to break one to get it open to spray contact cleaner on the sticky switch, then tape it back. The tape looks really tacky and doesn't hold it well, but it's either that or throw it away. Still, I love the look of these in my Japanese garden.

Style & EAse
I love these lights. During the summer they don't turn on until the sun goes down at about 10:30pm. During the fall, they sparkle starting about 6. In Winter when the sunsets at 4:30pm, they come on even earlier because the shadows from trees make them think it is time to come on. They are easy to install. The bad thing is they are not real strong, so the guys - in their early 20's or the ones who do "brut force" - working in the yard sometimes kick and break them. I get upset with that! Now I remove any that might be in the way. Our summers are brutal with sun, so the solar is discoloring, but they seem to be working just fine. I've had some in the yard through the end of last winter - about 9 months. I keep buying more because I love having our walkway lined in order to follow it and not trip over stones, etc.

They look nice but are very flimsy
I love the design but found that the lights are heavy, fragile and flimsy. The plastic used on the light shade and 90 degree elbow is brittle and cracks very easily. The plastic used on the straight sections is more forgiving. After three days of outdoor charging I still have a light that constantly flickers - not the high frequency flicker of led christmas lights but something that flashes maybe 2-4 times each second. As for the amount of light - its a single led, not the flashlight kind that are super bright, its a single led like you'd see in christmas lights. So maybe as bright as a candle, maybe two candles if you are generous. The led color is white-white but the tinted shade does make the light look like its generating a warm white color. It would be hard for the lights to look as good as they do and be more cheaply made. They are just barely good enough to not be worth the hassle of repackaging and returning them.

Superb Customer Service and my favorite lights
Update: I changed my rating from 4 stars to 5. While I skeptical at first because these are more expensive and you’ll replace batteries on any of them (added cost), I absolutely fell in love with them. I bought the first set last year and then another this year after changing things around. This time I wound up with one bad light. The 4 from last year were still going great. So I wrote the company explaining that the one light didn’t work and had a crack that looked like someone stepped on it. It had a crack and wouldn’t light up. I wanted to know if I needed to return the whole set or just the one light. Lily promptly wrote me back and asked me take a picture, which I did, showing the crack and how it didn’t light up next to the others. To my surprise, she offered to send me a brand new one and just throw away the broken light. I thought that was great. But just now I opened the mail and she sent me a two pack for free! I couldn’t be happier! So, they may cost you a bit more, but these lights are the cutest and most durable or any of the solar lights I bought on Amazon and we have bought around a dozen of the cheap ones in the past. Don’t even bother. It’s not worth it. If you love the unique design as I do, these are the best and the customer service was more than I ever expected. Thank you so much, Lily! Here’s a picture.A little pricey but they look very nice. I took off a star for cheap batteries and high price. It has a stake with an extension piece. Just place those in the ground, twist the top part of the lamp to remove, pull out the tab on the batteries and turn the switch under the solar top to ON, then place it on your stake. I don’t know why people said they look white. They have a yellow plastic enclosure which emits a yellowish color, not white for me. I’ll update how they last after a time.
