OLIGHT Ostrip RGB LED Strip Lights, 16.4 ft, Smart Lamp

Olight are my go to for anything torch or light related. All their products have been well built, long lasting and work very well. These are very good value for money considering most of their other products tend to be in the mid to expensive range.

I have a few Olight torches that I have absolutely loved, and they have done me well. So when I saw that they have released an LED strip, I really wanted to give it a go. The strip comes in at five metres plus a nice long lead going up to it, which measures almost 2 metres. It has a USB plug for power and a single inline button to manage it when on. Realistically, you will need to install the app to control the strip. In order to use the app, you do need to hand over an email address, though it does not ask for a password. From the app, you can set how the lights appear, such as scenes that dance with different colours or flash. You can also tell it to be on constantly in one colour or multiple, one colour per segment. I really would rather not have to hand over my email to control my lights. The strip has individual LEDs, one every 3.5 cm. Over the LEDs, there is a clear resin coating to protect them. This is a nice touch, and unless you touch the strip or look very closely, you would not know the coating is there. On the back, there is some adhesive under the usual backing paper. This will hold it in place whilst you add the clips, which are supplied. The lights are bright enough for decorative use or as a nightlight level to show the way upstairs at night. The colours are good too. I have got a few LED strips, and to get five metres of RGB for £13 is very good value, especially from a respected brand like Olight. On the whole, this is a great LED strip for the price. I just wish I could use the app as a guest.

I ordered the OLIGHT Ostrip RGB LED Strip Lights to act as a backlight for our widescreen TV which is wall mounted with a plain wall behind it. The LED lights arrived on a roll together some fixing screws and an instruction leaflet. Installation on the lights was straightforward just needing a little care on corners and the adhesive backing was strong enough for our TV. As it is USB powered I was able to connect to the USB port on our TV to power it; when the TV turns off so do the LED lights. Operation is either through an app or by using the on/off button which also allows you to rotate through a preset selection of colours, I was disappointed to see that no remote control is included. The LED light strip looks good quality and it gives off a lovely effect, adding ambiance to what was previously a bland wall. This is a good set of LED strip of lights that provide colour and ambiance to any space, with full control through an app.

Edited from 4 stars to 1 -> This item started well but it stopped working for all but the first metre after a week. It hadn’t been touched so the quality appears to be an issue. Original review -> This LED light strip must have every available option! Plain cool white, warm white, all the colours, changing colours, music responsive, just so many options. Easily controlled by the app. Can be stuck down using the 3M sticky strip and using screw down hooks to hold in place. Very easy to install and get using. The only downside for me is that the Alexa skill can’t be activated, it’s just not working right now. If that was fixed it’d be 5/5. I got this as a free gift when buying other Olight products, but I think it’s well worth the price.
