Easy and Effective Way for a Beginner in Their 50s
Iโm 50 and just getting back into a workout routine, and the CAP Barbell Adjustabell has been perfect for me. Itโs incredibly easy to adjust weightsโfrom lighter for warm-ups to heavier for strength trainingโand switching between exercises is smooth and fast thanks to the dial mechanism. The handle has a good grip, even with sweaty palms, and the compact design fits neatly in my home gym space, saving me the hassle of storing multiple dumbbells. Iโve been able to do a full range of moves, curls, presses, rows, even squats without feeling awkward. The adjustment process is intuitive and quick, so I stay focused on my form and reps. While these arenโt the most heavy-duty dumbbells out there, theyโve been solid for beginner-to-intermediate use. That extra convenience of not having a big set of weights cluttering up my space is worth it. Overall, if youโre starting or restarting your fitness journey later in life, this dumbbell is a fantastic tool. Itโs reliable, easy to use, and great value for what it offers.

Great dumbbell, saves space, 5lb increments.
I use these 3 times a week and they are great. Sliding them on and off the holder is at times a bit difficult to align but slow and steady gets the job done. I can't imagine the other kinds don't have similar experience. These just work. Only thing I'd like is if they could go between the 5s, like 2.5 lb increments. But I knew that when I purchased great product. Grip is solid but may be a bit large for small hands. Weight adjustment is solid and I'm not worried they will fall out. I'm happy with these.

Well made product
Thought I would give these some time before I reviewed them. They are well made. I have been using them consistently for 4 months now. They are not the kind of hex bells you can dump on the floor just because of the nature of how they are built. That said, if you have limited space like I do in my apartment and don't typically throw your dumbbells around anyway, these work great. The dial is really handy and you get an audible "click" when you make an adjustment. The numbers are clearly labeled on both sides of the unit. Grip is solid. They can be removed with no trouble and put back into the base with limited effort (Other than lining up the unit with the base which one could expect from an adjustable dumbbell). In ending money well spent. CAP has some really decent products that don't cost an arm and a leg.

Good Adjustable Dumbbells for the Price Point
After doing a lot of research on adjustable dumbbells, I selected the CAP 55# adjustable dumbbells. The dumbbells were delivered in excellent condition upon ordering. The dumbbells are very large (depending upon how much weight is selected) compared to conventional dumbbells, so this takes some getting use to. Most exercises can be performed without any hindrance from the large size bar. The dumbbells are made in China, and have a 2 year warranty. One negative: both of my dumbbells have a small metal burr on the handle collar from manufacturing. The burr is sharp and causes discomfort when using the dumbbells with bare hands. I recommend wearing lifting gloves when in use. Overall, the dumbbells are good quality and a good value for the money.

Nice weights
These are nice they work well they lock in well. I wish these came with either a little elastic or Velcro to attach the base around the handle for transport. You absolutely have to have the base in order to change the weights. But when you pick the weights up they leave the base. So when you transport them you have to carry four things instead of just two. That being said they work the way they should they're comfortable. They feel a little unbalanced and they're a little awkwardly sized. But if you want one wait that's going to do it all it's going to have some issues. That being said I'm very happy with them. Or should I say my son, who stole them for me, is very happy with them

Easy, fast, and smooth weight selection.
***** Update: 6 months in with 3-5 workouts a week and these are still rockin' like day 1! ***** I couldn't find reviews for this set of dumbbells online anywhere prior to purchasing, but I took a chance on them because I like the CAP brand, they look quite nice, and the price is very good for this amount of weight. I'm happy to say that I'm glad I took a chance on these instead of some no-name brand! Pros: - The weight selections are sequential from low to high. Some of the no-name brands I was considering had seemingly random weight orders (i.e if you want to go up 5 lbs, rotate 1 clockwise, but for 10 lbs, rotate 2 counterclockwise... which would be confusing and annoying). - The handles, when the dumbbells are docked in their holder, rotate easily but feel solid and click into place for each weight increment. When not docked, there is minimal play and they remain locked into place quite securely. I never feel like I'm holding anything but a normal dumbbell. - Regardless of how many plates you have loaded onto the handles, the dumbbells line up and slide into their base with ease. I haven't had any failed attempts where I had to lift back up and try again. Just good engineering all around. - The handles are smooth while having a nice texture, paradoxically giving a pretty good grip while not tearing up your palms (though I wear gloves for higher weights just because). Cons: - Not really the product's fault, but all adjustable dumbbells tend to be a bit wider than standard dumbbells. I haven't found this to be a huge problem, I just take care not to let them hit each other side-on for fear of breaking them. Other: - I haven't had them long enough to comment on durability, but I will be sure to update the review if there are any problems.

Very handy
This is a very handy and compact way to have a complete set of dumbbells. Normally, lighter weight dumbbells are smaller than heavier ones, so these feel a bit odd, at first, when using a lower weights. But it's the weight that counts, so no stars deducted. Internals include some plastic parts, but they seem sturdy and there is an overall feeling of quality here. They feel solid and the detents in the twist system are positive. Some say it is hard to twist the grip, but that is better than having it twist accidentally during use and letting a weight drop out onto your foot. So just consider the stiff twisting another exercise. You're supposed to be using these to build muscles, right?

Great overall
I've had these for a few months now, first thing, I love the efficiency. Takes up very little space, but very versatile! The grip is fine, love the honeycomb style. The plates rattle a bit, but i like that too. One thing I've noticed is when re-racking, the weights get caught against the other plates while you try to fit it back into the base. Overall, I'm happy with the buy!

Great quality
I prefer the octagonal ones so they don't roll around, but overall great quality. Exactly what you would expect, and the ease of adjusting the dumbells is top notch.

Smart & practical product
These dumbbells are really great. You can quickly change the weight you want. They are very practical and good. If at some point the weight gets a little stuck and you can't fix it properly in place or take it out of the container, just carefully roll the dumbbell and the container under it to one side until the dumbbell is free. But be sure to watch your hands and feet, be very careful. Overall, it is a really good, practical and smart product.

When resting then in the base dont drop them and make sure they are aligned
I like these weights they are adjustable and work well, only thing to be aware of is anything under full weight (55lbs) leaves individual plates resting in the base, when putting the dumbell down you have to ensure they are in alignment to set them down or they get suck ontop of the plate and dont slide into place also be sure not to drop them as it can damage them.

Smooth, quality, with very minor cons. Buy on sale.
I purchased the 10-55lb pair of adjustable dumbbells which arrived very quickly and I was extremely impressed with them. The handles feel good, they adjust (in increments of 5lbs) very easily by turning the handles, they are not overly bulky or loud and the plates do not clang together like most other models I have tried. My only complaints would be that the bases they come with are light cheap plastic and often lift off the ground when you pick up the weight which can be annoying to detach from the weight if you hands are both holding the weights. The second potential issue I see is that the ends of the weights have a plastic cover on them, which I think could easily break if they are accidentally hit together, although it does feel like strong plastic. Time will tell how they hold up. But for the price (I got a pair for $240 cad on a black Friday deal) they are very impressive.
