A very good instant ramen in an authentic flavor
To be clear up front: I'm not giving this five stars because I really can't bring myself to give that rating to instant ramen. That said, Sapporo Ichiban is probably the best brand of instant ramen out there where the noodles are deep-fried. One of the reasons is that the brand includes authentic Japanese flavors, instead of being confined to the standard chicken, beef, shrimp and "oriental." Sapporo Ichiban miso ramen, which I eat regularly, is a decent approximation to actual miso ramen, so I was expecting good things from the shio ramen, and I was not disappointed. Each package includes the noodles, a large envelope of,soup base, and a small envelope of sesame seeds. Including the sesame seeds is a nice touch. The price for a box of 24 packages of ramen is a little more expensive than I'm used to, as there are a number of Asian groceries in my part of Chicago in which Sapporo Ichiban is on offer for less than a dollar each. However, I've not seen the shio ramen in any of them, so I'm willing to pay a little extra for something I can't easily get otherwise.

Simple and tasty
As someone with a sensitivity to soy, but who loves some instant ramen now and again, these are a godsend. They have a nice baseline flavor--salt, onion, garlic--that can be spruced up by adding other ingredients if one so desires. Compared to some other brands, I find Sapporo Ichiban instant noodles to be a bit less heavy and aggressive, especially so for the shio flavor. They're no fine dining experience or healthy staple, but they make for delicious comfort food.

Most Authentic Instant Ramen Noodle
I would recommend Sapporo Ichiban brand instant noodles to anyone who likes the taste of authentic ramen. Out of the many instant noodles I've tried, Sapporo Ichiban has the best noodle texture, which is extremely important when it comes to the quality of ramen as a dish. The noodles are soft and chewy and have a consistency somewhat comparable to mochi. Other instant noodle brands I have tried, such as Nongshim and Cup Noodles, have extremely spongy and porous noodles, which I dislike. The broth is very fragrant of chicken and has a very rich taste. It is very flavorful but can also be too salty for some people. I would recommend only adding half of the seasoning if you are sensitive to salt. Overall I think Sapporo Ichiban delivers a quality ramen experience in a easy to access fashion. I really think that this brand should receive more acclamation, so spread the word!

A new favorite!
With the regrettable ending of their production of Kitsune Udon, this Shio have become my new Sapporo Ichiban favorite. As mentioned by others, it's got sort of a roast chicken broth flavor, which is infinitely better than any generic chicken flavored ramen I've ever tasted, including their official chicken flavor. The little pack of sesame seeds is great, and if you add a dash or three of sesame oil it becomes one of the very best instant oriental noodle varieties I've come across. Highly recommended!

Tastes good
I have never had these noodles before and decided to give them a try. They actually taste pretty good. Not as good as freshly cooked ramen in a ramen restaurant but not bad at all for packaged noodles. I am pleasantly surprised.

Far far more calories than advertised. Much more fat.
Image says 160 calories. What I received says 460. ImAge says 12% daily fat and 18% saturated. What I received says 23% total and 40% saturated. Look at the picture and it will be clear that this is the same product incorrectly represented on Amazon. This item is not returnable. I have considered feeding it to my dog. The problem is that I like my dog.

They're not bad. It's quite tasty
These have a very rich chicken flavor paired with sesame seeds as a condiment. I personally prefer it without the sesame seeds. I usually add some red pepper paste to liven it up a bit. I really prefer the Miso flavor over this one. They're not bad. It's quite tasty. I just prefer more depth to the flavor.
