06857 16-Inch Electric Foldaway Skillet

The Presto 06857 Electric Foldaway Skillet has quickly become one of my favorite kitchen appliances. The 16‑inch cooking surface is incredibly spacious, making it perfect for everything from big family breakfasts to weeknight stir‑fries. I use an electric skillet almost daily, instead of cooking on my stove top. It's just cleaner and easier that making a mess in skillets or pans, having to clean the stove and surrounding counter tops, pan, etc. Any way, I've been through several electric skillets in the last 20 years. Assorted brands and sizes. Here is what I LOVE about this one. 1. Cooks very evenly. That said, there is absolutely a ring that gets hotter directly over the heating element that you will notice when making sauces or gravy, etc. But it does heat much more consistently throughout the pan basin than others I have used. 2. SUPER easy to clean. Just unsnap the base and the whole skillet goes into the dishwater. 3. Has a pour spout on one side. You can rest a spoon there also. FAB! 4. Nice and deep. Holds a large capacity of whatever you are preparing. You can cook several different things at the same time. 5. The base folds up and stores inside the pan. Put in the power cord, flip the lid upside down and it does not take up much cabinet space at all. I have had this for about 6 weeks and have used it at least 30 times. So far, so fantastic.

I have absolutely no complaints on this. It works perfectly cooks perfectly. So if you're looking for one maybe a little expensive, but it's well worth it! It's really easy to clean nonstick. I haven't had anything. Stick to it since we got it. And we use it quite a bit.

Let me start off by saying I have a VERY nice set of stainless steel pots and pans, and this thing has pretty much replaced all of them. It’s big enough for me to meal prep 10 to 12 meals at once, the nonstick is absolutely phenomenal: I literally can clean it with a wet paper towel in about 10 seconds. It heats up almost instantly and the heat feels very even. Chicken, pancakes, eggs, bacon, ground beef, you name it. I honestly made the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had on it tonight, set it to 250 and move them around and they were so fluffy and light. I love that it can store super compact but I honestly keep it on my counter and haven’t even put it away yet. This thing has absolutely changed the way I cook and I get excited every time I get to use it. Just remember to only use silicone or wood utensils or you’ll definitely wreck the nonstick. If you’re on the fence just buy it. You will not regret this product. Trust me on this one.

This is a decent skillet, and it should be, considering that over the past six years I've purchased it six times (five for me, one for my sister's house for when I'm there and need to cook). This averages out to be replaced roughly once per year, as the non-stick surface eventually wears off despite my only using plastic or silicone spatulas. It is my primary skillet for frying things, so I use it at least once per week. The cost is low enough that I don't mind replacing it yearly, considering how convenient it is to use, clean and store. Having said that, do not believe what you may read in the comments because THIS IS NOT DISHWASHER SAFE. I bought my first dishwasher late last year and have been washing this skillet in there regularly. After a while, I noticed that my fingers were turning black when I picked it up after washing or from the top of the refrigerator where I store it between uses. I assumed it was because of the dishwasher, but hey, the comments and Amazon said it was dishwasher safe, so I assumed it was just nearing the end of its life. Nope. The instructions that come inside the package specifically state that not only is the skillet NOT dishwasher safe, but if you clean it in one, you may end up with a grey powder on the bottom due to the detergent. So, overall, this is a satisfactory electric skillet that is super easy to clean (even by hand) and even better, super easy to store as all the pieces fit together when putting it away. However, I'm docking it one star for not being dishwasher safe this far into the 21st century.

I would buy this over and over. I have had it a few months now. I do almost all of my cooking in it. It's super easy to clean, easy to take for pot lucks or family dinners. I wish I bought this a couple of years ago. It's super easy to clean and store away

We love this pan. It's our second one. The old one is 12 years old and still functional but we needed a new one due to the normal wear and tear of a large family who cooks a lot. Its size allows to make large amounts of food in one batch. Very versatile. I also like that the base is removable and nestles inside the pan making it more compact in the cupboard taking up less space, although don't expect perfectly flat compact. Lol. Definitely recommend.

I just bought my second skillet a few months ago. I mainly use it for cooking chuck roast or frying eggplant for eggplant parm. It's perfect for frying bacon, cooking eggs or pancakes. I prefer higher temps when cooking steaks, so I personally wouldn't use it for that. The nonstick surface makes cleaning easy. I've made cheese pinwheels in it and they have never stuck to the pan.

Not for Indian kitchen

I have owned many electric frying pans over the years, all coated, even one coated in ceramic and this appliance is the best one I have ever purchased. I love the large size. The ability to take it from its stand and put it in the top of the dishwasher is A-Mazing! I love the rounded edges. And even better than the ease and aesthetics, is how evenly it cooks. Most Pam's seem to get really hot where the elements are but this one seems to be hot equally everywhere. And I have now had it for a few months and with almost daily use the pan looks perfect and you cannot see where the elements even are (some of the ones I owned in the past discoloured quickly where the elements are. All on all I would highly recommend this pan.
