Brilliant card game with great mechanics and atmosphere.
I really like this game. It's simple enough to learn that no one was put off, but the mechanics are complex and interesting enough that I can see myself playing this one for a long, long time. It has a complexity similar to Magic the Gathering, but in a much more accessible way. No walls of text, but lots of cards triggering other cards. That kind of thing. Plus the game is a nce length to play. Not too short but not hous and hours either like some board games. I would recommend this to anyone!

Solid game for keen gamers
Solid game for keen board gamers, air land and sea on steroids. Takes a bit to get your head round some of the combos and lots of depth so not something you can play without your full attention.

Lives up to the hype!
At the time of writing, 'Compile: Main 1' has become both difficult & expensive to get hold of, owing to demand. However, it is being reprinted & 'Compile: Main 2' is due out in a few weeks too. Having gotten hold of 'Main 1', I can confirm this small yet beautiful box definitely lives up to the hype. It's my favourite sort of game - simple rules, so easy to pick up but also with a lot of strategic depth to really get you thinking. The person I played my first game with said it felt more like chess than a card game. There's lots of small decisions you have to make which have important consequences. For example, at the start of the game, you decide which three decks you want to use. Each one has unique strengths & they compliment each other in different ways, so while in the few games I've played this was mostly a random decision, I can imagine experienced players putting a lot of thought into it. As for the cards themselves - they're simply beautiful. Photos really don't do them justice. Printed on good quality card, each one has a foil inlay which catches the light pleasingly. The artwork is great as well - stunning, abstract images which fit the theme of each deck. The whole package is very modern looking. For me, handling cards or pieces which look & feel good is an important part of playing games & Compile really delivers. And with its purple stripe, Compile's box may be small but it grabs attention & stands out on the shelf. This is a great game which I want to master & see myself playing a lot in the years to come. It's very popular at my local board game cafe. I'm looking forward to buying 'Main 2' as well, so I can experiment with its new decks.
