How big of an area is this product good for?

Not that big.....a small room would be best. Also MAKE SURE THE FILTER IS PLACED WHERE THERE ARE NO OBSRUCTIONS. I plugged it in by a window sill and found that small bit of wood was obstructing the air filter's effectiveness.

I think it might. I bought them to keep at work because the business next door is a mechanic and the fumes seep into our unit. It's especially strong in the bathroom and it was gone after I left it plugged in there overnight. I also keep one at home by my cat's litter box.
