ASUS RT-BE92U Tri-band WiFi 7 Router, supports new 320MHz bandwidth & 4096-QAM, Multi-link operation (MLO), AI WAN detection, AiMesh support, subscription-free network security, and VPN features

This was an upgrade from my RT-AC68U and it immediately resolved my broadband speed bottleneck. This has mixed reviews and is stated as a high returned item. I have had no such problems with drop off/connections yet and I am a heavy user. I have this set up: VM Hub 5 in modem mode with the RT-BE92U handling all wifi as AImesh with RP-AX58 & wired connections, absolutely no dramas so far. When setting up especially like me and you already have the asus app, dont try and add to your existing to replace old router. I tried this and it caused all sorts of issues. Uninstal your app, re download and start as if its 1st setup, its so much smoother. I just renamed my network, used same wifi logon. This just means reconnecting to the new network for wifi devices. I have not setup as separate band widths but if you have older devices which only work with 2.4Hrz you might have too. My Reolink wifi camera which has that limitation had no problem however, so try it and see what works for you. I am happy as its in the affordable price range and produces the speed, stability and connectivity I require. FYI ensure you upgrade to latest firmware when installing.

I really wanted to like the ASUS RT-BE92U, but after several weeks of troubleshooting I simply can't recommend it in its current state. This is the latest hardware revision running the latest official ASUS firmware. I also performed a full factory reset and configured everything from scratch to eliminate the possibility of old settings or configuration issues. Unfortunately, the problems remained. The router constantly appears to be under heavy load. At least one CPU core sits at or near 100% utilisation most of the time, while RAM usage is consistently very high. Looking through the system logs reveals hundreds of kernel drop/VLAN-related errors, which is concerning on a brand-new router. The biggest issue is stability. LAN connections randomly drop, with devices connected via the 2.5GbE ports seeming particularly affected. Connections that should be rock solid instead disconnect unexpectedly. Smart home compatibility has been even worse. My Ring devices regularly disconnect from the network, and certain Alexa devices completely lose connectivity. In many cases they don't reconnect by themselves and have to be rebooted before they will come back online. That's simply not acceptable for a premium router that's supposed to be the centre of a smart home. I've spent a significant amount of time trying different settings, rebooting, factory resetting and ensuring the firmware is fully up to date, but nothing has resolved the instability. I know some people recommend installing ASUS Merlin firmware, but I haven't gone down that route. With so many problems on the official firmware, I'm reluctant to install third-party firmware while I'm still within my Amazon return window. If it doesn't solve the issues, I don't want to risk complicating a return. I've also read posts from people claiming ASUS has offered exchanges or upgrades to similar or higher-end models in some cases. Whether that's true or not, I certainly don't want to take that chance, and I'm not willing to gamble on keeping an unreliable router in the hope that something like that might happen. When the router works, the speeds and feature set are genuinely impressive, which makes this all the more disappointing. However, impressive specifications are meaningless if the network can't stay connected. I sincerely hope ASUS can fix these issues with future firmware because the hardware has a lot of potential. As things stand today, I can't recommend the RT-BE92U, especially if you rely on Ring devices, Alexa devices or stable 2.5GbE LAN connections.

I bought the ASUS RT-BE92U BE9700 WiFi 7 router to upgrade my home network, and it has been a huge improvement over my previous WiFi 5/6 hardware. Wireless performance is excellent – speeds are consistently high across the house, and latency is noticeably lower, even with multiple devices streaming and gaming at the same time. The WiFi 7 features really make a difference. The tri-band setup, wide channels and improved efficiency mean that devices get a strong, stable connection without the random slowdowns I used to see at busy times. Coverage is very good on its own, and the option to add AiMesh nodes in the future gives me confidence that I can easily extend the network if needed. The web interface and app are both clear and powerful. Setting it up took only a few minutes, but there is plenty of depth if you want to tweak things: AI WAN detection, VLANs, QoS, guest networks, parental controls, VPN support and more. It’s nice to have these advanced options available without the interface feeling overwhelming. Security features are another plus – automatic updates, built-in protection and easy-to-manage guest access give some peace of mind, especially with lots of smart home devices connected. Wired performance via the Ethernet ports is also rock solid for PCs and consoles that need the absolute best stability. Overall, this router has transformed my home network: much faster WiFi, better coverage and a lot more control. If you’re looking for a future-proof, high-performance router that can handle a busy modern home, this ASUS WiFi 7 model is an excellent choice. I’m extremely happy with it and would definitely recommend it.

Firmware not stable.

First class router that should see me out - No problems with it at all - It being slim & vertical placed it easy to place & there is a wall mount if required - It is a replacement for a cheaper ASUS that developed a fault but this is fine, lots of options in set-up with & Trend AI protection etc. for me its worth the money, I may be getting a none BT/VM fibre connection so this is well up to the job of higher input speeds - Maybe a bit of overkill for me at the moment but very pleased, very stable router. Should you buy one & set-up or change a Wi-Fi / SSD there can be a fair amount of time while the router reboots, this is not an issue but I first I thought I had done something wrong, just be aware of this, as you get no lights on the router & its not connectible for what SEEMS like a while until its sorts thongs out. Nice router that should be long lasting!

I'll start with the good : I bought this router mainly because I needed a 10g LAN port for my Ethernet backhaul between rooms , and for that it's excellent . However .... ASUS's implementation of WiFi 7 , and some of the other high end features is atrocious .. it wasn't really apparent until a WiFi 7 device entered my household , but since we got a new iPhone that uses WiFi 7 we have suffered with a crashing router [Kernel panic , caused by aggressive sleep options and the routers inability to let the sleeping device go] .. I have had to disable WiFi 7 , turn off MLO & disable various other options that hand devices off based on their signals strength , as well as band switching on the 2.4ghz band .. It's not a good look , if you're not technically inclined and prepared to wait for future Firmware fixes that hopefully sort this catastrophe of high end WiFi implementation out .

I've had Asus routers for years and decided to upgrade from the RT-AX86U to this RT-BE92U. The hardware is a great upgrade but the latest firmware Asus released on the 31/10/25 version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 destroys the 2.4ghz band. The 2.4ghz network keeps disappearing and all clients become disconnected. The only option is to downgrade the firmware to the previous version (and turn off auto upgrade). I'm amazed Asus don't see this issue as a priority and pull the 3.0.0.6.102_38979 update.

I never thought I'd have to leave a review like this about an Asus Router. Many of the issues I experienced have already been listed, signal vanishing etc. There must be some quality control problems. Setting up was problematic as I wanted to replicate my previous setup to avoid reregistering every device. The Asus wanted the router address to be 192.168.51.1 changing this should have been much easier unless I was missing something. Any modifications had to be executed at time of amendment. I was unable to make a lot of changes then submit them all simultaneously. Very time consuming. Uploading files to an attached USB drive was painfully slow <1MBps. My current Netgear does this at 108MBps. I ended up exasperated and beaten and will happily stick with the stable Nighthawk RS300. I just wanted a subscription free security system but can do without till a stable ASUS equivalent appears

Terrible router. My Gigabit internet drops to 80Mbps with this thing. Swap back in the old router, back up to 1Gbps. Trash. Do not buy
