4x30 Sport Binoculars

I purchased 2 sets of these for pistol shot spotting at 25 meters or less. They give quite a clear image for the price and the magnification is appropriate for the 9mm rounds being fired.The are constructed of mostly plastic and rubber with just enough metal to lend some durability. Nonetheless, they don't give a particularly cheap feel. The strap is little more than a shoelace, but for my purposes no strap is required.The focus adjusts very easily, but if you wear glasses you will need to continue wearing them if you intend to see anything worthwhile. More expensive binoculars allow you to take off your glasses thus blocking out the light from your peripheral vision. Nonetheless, I can clearly see what I am looking for even with glasses on.Ensure that you keep them out of the rain, as they cannot be disassembled for cleaning and even a small amount of moisture on the inside of the lenses renders them worthless.Frankly, they perform their function well enough ...certainly well enough for the price.

The good news is that though they are simple, a bit loosely put together, they actually do a decent job of 4x magnification.The bad news is that typical of many China made plastics, these are of such a strong out-gassing odor that its like placing a gasoline rag to your nose when you put them up to your eyes. After three days, the odor is still strong and obnoxious.

The outside of the binoculars is made of rubber, which would be fine except that it smells horrible. Probably the cheapest rubber they could find and honestly, the odor keeps me from using it. Also I wear glasses with progressive lenses and found it extremely difficult to find the right focus. I recommend spending a little more and buying a better product.

Perfect for kids or adults as their first binoculars. Actually seemed to give me almost as much power as my Tasco binoculars for a lot less. I was able to clearly see a penny the kids threw up on the roof which was kind of cool. Our grandkids got to see the deer by our back gate they said it felt like they were standing by them, the gate is 450 feet away so a plus. I think these would be great for sporting events and they had a nice warranty.

More child size than adults but not bad over all.
