Nice quality
Really nice quality. Medium weight metal. The only thing I would change- I'd like the feet to be fixed in place.

7 years and going strong
This works great. Nice tall legs and extendable handle makes steaming anything simple. Have had this for years and use it often and it still looks like it did when I got it.

Love this a LOT!
I just now ordered my second OXO steamer basket after an accident. The story: after dinner I washed my 4-quart cooking pan and the OXO steamer I use with it together, then sat them on a heated burner for a couple of minutes to dry out so I could put them away together. I love that the steamer folds and closes down and fits all my pans just about. Anyway, tonight I forgot and went into another room and watched a movie. Suddenly the smoke alarms went off! The apartment was smoky. In the kitchen the pan was sitting on a red-hot burner, cooking away. I had to put on a Covid mask in order to navigate as the air was awful and my throat, eyes, and nose were burning. I opened windows and turned on a fan full blast and shut the bedroom door where my cat was sleeping (and thankfully didn't beathe any of this foul air.) In a while the kitchen was cleared and the smoke dissipated. The OXO's plastic top was GONE! Nothing remained--I think that's mainly what I was breathing/smelling. The pan was shot, too. Metal was oozing out from a seam in the bottom and collecing on the burner. It hardened and looked like lump of hardened mercury but maybe was aluminum. I don't know. I just know that I found myself out of two things I use just about every day. I just ordered a new pan and a new OXO--I have to have these two for all the veggies I steam along with fish sometimes, plus other goodies. I love that the OXO has nice long legs. I see I ordered the first one over two years ago--so it's lasted a good while and until tonight was in geat shape. I learned my lesson about leaving a pan on the stove--never again! So spend the few extra $$ and get one of these--they are so worth it!

Has some limitations
I thought the handle would be a great idea, yet I honestly have to say that it’s not really great. It gets in the way of how much food can be steamed and when using it to lift out of the pot, it’s a bit wobbly/unsteady and awkward when tried to dump the food off into another dish.

Another good solution from OXO.
Like all the OXO gadgets I’ve gotten, it’s well designed to solve a real need. I like that the height can be adjusted quite a bit to fit various pots by raising or folding the legs. The collapsible handle is helpful. Also the slot in the handle that lets you pick it up with a fork through the slot. Fewer stinging fingers or sodden hot pads.

Would be great but pop-handle keeps popping up
**** SEPTEMBER 2, 2015 UPDATE **************************************Please read my review and earlier updates below. Here is a final update. I am updating to 5 stars after receiving a replacement from OXO. The replacement is an improved design that omits the spring that caused the handle to pop up. This was a great design modification by OXO. As far as I could tell, the only purpose served by the spring was to make the lid pop off the pot during use (I must admit it was amusing the first time it happened). The handle still telescopes up and down using friction in the telescoping mechanism to hold it in place - that system works great.I now recommend this steamer without reservation. My compliments to OXO for listening to reviewer comments on this issue and to implementing an effective solution.***************************************************************I like the design, very rugged and well built. I especially like the sturdy fold-down legs. I also liked the design of the pop-up handle with slot allowing you to lift the hot steamer with a fork. I would give this product 5 stars, like the majority of other reviews except for one big problem. The telescoping spring-loaded handle design permits three handle-height positions: fully down, half-way up and fully extended. The problem is that my handle will not stay down. With a lot of work I can get it to stay half-way down for a short period before it pops fully up on its own. I can rarely get it fully down and then for no more than a couple of seconds. When I get it half-way down, it tends to pop up when it gets hot during steaming and shoots the lid off my pot. I have to fully remove the handle (yes, it's removable) before I can use it for steaming. I don't know if this is just a manufacturing defect in my steamer, but if you have the opportunity, carefully check out the steamer in person before you buy one. I really want to love this steamer.*** July 27, 2013 update:See comments to this post, particularly those by J. Masters and my reply, for an effective fix to this problem.*** July 10, 2015 update:I just got an unsolicited response to this post from OXO, which is shown below. This should be very helpful for those who hesitate to purchase this product based on my review or other similar reviews. Thanks for your feedback on the OXO Pop-Up Steamer. We're sorry to hear about the issue you've been experiencing with the handle popping-up on its own.Through user feedback like yours, we learned of this issue and investigated; we developed a new telescoping handle that is extendable instead of spring-loaded and will not pop-up on its own while in use.At OXO we have a Satisfaction Guarantee on all OXO products and we'd love the chance to make this right, please contact us directly at [email protected] yours,OXO

Versatile and Fits Different Size Pots
I had this since 2018 and the center stick finally broke off. It’s very versatile and easy to clean. I’ll be buying another one.
