Let's Cut To The Chase....It's A Good Knife
UPDATE: MARCH, 2016: The knife started acting up in the past few weeks (body getting hot and stopping dead a few times). It finally died on Easter Sunday. For me it lasted about 2 1/4 years (or just past the warranty). We used it fairly often so for the price I can't complain.Original review:For the price I did not expect too much, just an OK knife. This is a good knife. While it is unremarkable and really just a basic knife, it performs really well. The dimensions are as follows:Blades: 9" when mounted (about 12" overall)Knife body: about 10" long. Approximately 7 1/2" to 8" around, where you hold it for use.Electrical cord: Approx. 5 feet. The twin blades mount and eject easily. The knife is not heavy nor cumbersome. It fits well into my hand and my wife's - we are of average height and size. The trigger on the underside of the knife is easy to activate and use.The knife cuts smoothly through meats. I've used it on roast beef, turkey, chicken and pork roast without any problems. It cuts cleanly and does a nice job producing thick or thin slices of meat. It works effortlessly even on thick/dense meat.It also comes with a gray plastic hard case which holds the knife, blades in their own little compartment, and user guide.Hamilton Beach warrantees the product for 2 years. At this price, for what more can you ask?

Great electric knife!
I used it cutting up a 27lb Christmas ham. Did a wonderful job. Each cut was smooth and easy. I had no issues at all. I just bought this electric knife but I had a Hamilton Beach electric knife for 30 years and it always performed perfectly.

after 20 years my old hamilton beach knife gave out ... i immediatly purchased another one
After 20 years or so of use, my original hamilton beach carving knife gave out, after I dropped the knife on the floor. And since I had gotten so many years of good use out of the knife and since the knife always gave me the results I wanted from an electric knife, I immediately purchased a new hamilton beach to replace the old one.To my eye, the old knife and the new knife are remarkably identical in shape and functionality. The carved piece at the front bottom of the knife is slightly longer on the new model but that's about all I can see that is outwardly different. The case that comes with the new knife is far more modest than the old knife being that the old knife case was slightly large, was lined more nicely and had better compartments to hold the blades and the fork, but that modified design isn't a major concern for me.The knife size, shape, grip, ease of use (etc.) is all as good with the new knife as with my trusty 20-year old model. For the price, this is a nice version of an electric carving knife.

great for meats, not so much for vegetables
I bought this Hamilton Beach electric knife because I broke my right wrist and could not use that hand to stabilize the foods I was cutting. It cuts meats very well, even without stabilizing the meat with the meat fork (which is included.) Not so for vegetables -- I sawed on a head of cabbage for a good 10 minutes before I realized it wasn't my technique -- it just was not working! And that was even with someone holding the cabbage head still, which was not the way I wanted to use it anyway. The motor does feel hot after I've been using it for four or five minutes, so I take a break while it cools down. The way the knife is designed, you can put it on the counter & the blade will remain up in the air so that it doesn't scratch or damage countertops. That also keeps the blade clean while I'm taking my break. I really like the little storage case, which keeps all the parts and pieces together, and I also like that you can put the blades in the dishwasher. I'd like it better if it cut vegetables too, but just for meat it is still definitely worth the money!

Sturdy, ergonomic, includes hard case, a deal!
After a few tries with other electric knives, this one was PERFECT, an Excellent replacement for my previous electric knife. It’s budget friendly and comes with a case. I love this one so much i gave one to my son/daughter-in-love for their first holiday turkey. That’s saying a lot .,. I would never give them something just “okay.” This knife is excellent. The weight and grip and very nice. It’s weighty. Not as is “too heavy,” but it feels solid and sturdy in your hand. It feels strong and reliable, not flimsy. It’s balanced well, so it feels secure. It’s comfortable and ergonomic, seems like a natural e tension of my hand. You don’t need to hold your hand in an awkward way to get a firm slice (as I found with another I tried). The knife release is easy to operate, very intuitive. And I do love that it comes in a case, so it stores away in a compact unit, cord and all. Ours came with a bonus carving fork, which was an unexpected gift.Overall I highly recommend this one and am happy to have found a suitable replacement to the previous one.

Good Product
Replacement for a Hamilton Knife that just quit after 20 years of use. Hope this one lasts that long! Easy to use. Carved thin slices of roasted chicken with ease. Wish there was a button you could push so you wouldn't have the hold the on button the whole time you were cutting, but comfort-wise its OK. I wouldn't be without an electric knife.

Motor Runs Hot; Handle is a Literal Pain
Full disclaimer: I bought this knife to cut foam, not food. But I think the density of foam and meat are pretty similar. ;) 6 inch foam? A big roast much thicker than that? Kinda squishy? Cool. The design of the handle is horrible. It's big, and thick (obviously--to hold the motor) but then you have to keep constant pressure on the trigger for the knife to even work. It would have been much, much better if it just had an on / off switch. Trying to maintain a constant grip on the trigger and the handle makes for a very sore and cramped hand. You don't even need to have any resistance against the blades for the act of using the knife to become tiresome. There were times when I was using this that it felt like the knife wasn't cutting at all. It was on, and hot, and the blades were moving, but it took a solid amount of pressure from my hand to actually make progress. Again, I'm cutting through foam, and frankly some cuts of meat offer much more resistance than any piece of medium- to high-density foam ever could . . . all of which makes me wonder if this knife is really worth it. It gets the job done, but . . . I'm kind of wishing I'd gone with a different brand. At least one with a better handle / hilt.
