Better than expected and actually detects CO.
Great product!!! Purchased the TOPTES CT-580 three days ago after returning a similar item from a different company that was dangerously defective in that it did not actually read CO levels when tested/exposed to known CO although the alarm test feature still worked (the alarm sounded when you pushed the "test" button). This would lead most people to believe that they were protected when they were not. This item actually works and tested against three different sources of CO gas (i.e. smoke, car exhaust and gas stove/oven exposure). You don't need to, but I would simply read the included 23-page manual while giving it an initial full charge and then easily calibrate it outside (no CO present). Set the date and time and then test away. This is exactly what I wanted, and it is portable for travel. Leave it on standby mode (don't turn it off) and it will detect CO and sound alert if CO is detected. It has been on standby mode for three days and battery is still above 50%. Buy this item if you want a portable CO detector that actually works like it is supposed to.

Great, for the price.
This unit seems to work well, and it was easy to set up and use.I wanted something I could use to test that a heater is not emitting CO into the house, and it seems to do that. I don't think I'd buy this particular unit if I was taking it on the job, but for the occasional home use, it's perfect.

I recommend these well made detecors
I tested both meters to great satisfaction. I tested propane gas leak and CO exhaust on a portable generator and wood pellet stove. Woked perfectly. Build quality and design are nice. Color LCD screen are visible and backlighting on-off option conserves battery. Two affordable and desirable safety devices that is would recommend in home, shop, camping and garage.

Time and date cannot be changed
The detector works, but in testing it by putting it close to my car muffler with engine running, the detected level remains for a very long time (several minutes), even after you remove the detector from the source of the CO. Perhaps this is normal behavior for this type of detector, but it makes moving it around quickly to detect CO in several different places in a short time impossible. Also, the time and date cannot be set. The displayed date was off by one day, and the time was off by several hours, and will not change no matter how many times I try to set them properly. The time and date setting function is very simple and straightforward, it just doesn't work.

Good quality meter that feels sturdy and gives quick reading
There are a lot of features I like about this meter. It feels like it is built with quality and could withstand dropping it a few times (although has not happened yet), gives quick results, and it has a nice non-slip cover so you can set it on say a table in your boat and it will not easily slip off. I use it when boating as I have experienced a few times where the backdraft during cruising can cause the exhaust to get into the cabin if the door is open. I cannot attest to the accuracy of the unit as I have not calibrated it or checked against other meters, but the readings seem reasonable.

Works well, built sturdy.
Our furnace is getting old and one day I thought I smelled something coming from the vents. We have combination Smoke/CO detectors, but they aren't inside every bedroom. So I decided I didn't want to risk it and bought this device.0 ppm straight from the vents0 ppm in the kitchen0 ppm everywhere... *except* in the garage!Alarm went crazy when I turned the car on, so I know the sensor works. It gave me peace-of-mind this winter, and I will continue to evaluate and report back any findings.Appears sturdy, seems to be of high quality.

Didn't detect a single warning when held next to a tail pipe
I returned it. Held it directly up to a running tail pipe and it registered nothing. Could've just gotten a faulty one, not sure. Seems easy to use, but I just can't risk something that is supposed to detect odorless fumes which are deadly, to be faulty.
