Taught me how to hold a pen
Ever since I was a child, I’ve used a weird grip on my pens and pencils, resting the barrel against the first knuckle of my ring finger. By no means has this been a life-deforming disaster, but it does lead to hand cramping and atrocious penmanship.A few weeks of using these fixed it. Now I hold pens normally, with the thumb-index-middle finger grip my elementary school teachers ultimately despaired of teaching me decades ago. The tendency is just gone. It’s like magic.I knocked off one star because it’s really hard to get these onto your pen I n the first place. If you’re using them to teach a child proper hand placement, I would not expect the kid to be able to insert the pen into the holder by him or herself.

Amazing customer service/satisfaction guarantee.
Update: I originally gave these 3 stars because they weren't my cup of tea (but quite clearly they are great for others that use them, so maybe would be for you too), so... Customer service contacted me, over and over, because I wasn't getting their emails. They told me since I wasn't satisfied and that their product carries a 12 month warranty that they would give me 100% refund, no cost to me! Now that is what I call service! So, if you give these a try and don't like them, they will make it right! And if they can't get ahold of you they will try harder! Excellent! The back hook doesn't really let the other 2 fingers sit flush against the middle finger. I've seen grips that encourage this style of grip on a pencil yet still not separate the middle finger from the ring and pinky fingers as this one does.

Great additional writing finger support.
This is great for assisting your child with pencil gripping and writing. I have a 3 year old and he grasped the concept quite quickly. He loves using it and within a few days was able to hold the pencil without the devise. I had worked with him prior to using this pencil grip but this offered the additional support he needed. My only drawback is that I can not find a similar item to fit other writing pieces such as dry erase markers or crayons.

Good for elementary, too big for preschool
I ordered the grips to help my son with holding his pencil. Since he's in preschool, the size of the grips are a bit too big, but he's still able to properly hold the pencil with it.It would be nice if there was a smaller version available so that preschoolers can properly hold a pencil/crayon.

Work great and very comfy
I got this grip for my son who is 4 and working on writing/tracing letters and other things at home as well as at school. It's a little big for him but it does get his to hold the pencil more properly instead of foisting it.I was also that kid who always had the "special pencils" at school when I was in late elementary school because of "sloppy" handwriting. These trips are FAR more comfortable then the kind I was forced to use. Definitely wish I would have had these back then because I would have enjoyed using them!

Best pencil grip for kindergarteners.
I LOVE these for my kindergarten class, I wish I had these for each one of my students. It’s been a week since we started using them and I see a difference with my students. Some students didn’t know how to hold the pencil, but with this specific pencil grip, they understand where the fingers go on the pencil. The ones who need it most, use it. I wish I had for each of my students. I don’t have any lefties, so I’m not sure how it’d work with them. I recommended this to my colleagues!

This made all the difference!
I got this for my 11-year-old niece who used to hold her writing utensils like she was about to stab something. This affected her handwriting and her hands would get tired easily. We tried for years to no avail to get her to hold a pencil properly. She was resistant to use these at first. I pushed her to try it. The following day she was using it on her own. And she loves them now.

Home School Mama Approved!
Great grip teaching tool for my 5 year old. My only complaint is that they slide a little too easily when she's writing. But to be fair, she's still learning and might be pushing too hard at times. I don't know...but they are for the most part a very big help!
