ONE MONSTER TRIMMER HEAD!
This thing is scary! This thing chews through just about anything. The only problem I had with it was when I tried cutting some tall Buffalo grass. This is the same grass that was used by indians and other primative man to braid rope out of. Since it has strong fibers that are very flexible when its dried out its perfect for making rope out of. When I was cutting it it kept winding around the drive shaft at the top of the cutter head and I had to keep stopping to cut it off with myknife. That's the only complaint that I have about it.I was using this with my Ryobi electric trimmer. It's the most powerful electric trimmer Ryobi makes and it didn't have any trouble running the heavy head. It would have been better if the electric one had speed control. All the electric ones I've used have no speed control, it's all or nothing. So I just bought a new Ryobi 25cc & 18" cut. Going to see how this head does with a gas powered one with speed control. I will update this later after I see how this cutter head does on a gas trimmer.Update 6-26-16This thing is still one monster trimming head. This thing eats through darn near anything and the blades last so long that you will miss the break time you used to have with the old string trimmers. I strongly recommend that you have a good face shield that comes down far enough to protect your throat. And ALWAYS use it when using this cutting head. You should always have good leather work boots, preferably with steel toes on them. DO NOT USE THIS WITH TENNIS SHOES, BASKETBALL SHOES, or any other shoes like them. It just takes one slip when using this and it can cut your toes off. Wearing some sort of shin guards will save you from a lot of small cuts from being hit with the rocks this thing can throw at you too. This cutting head is one mean tool! It does it's job very well and can be a very dangerous tool. So use it carefully and respect what it can do to your legs and feet. The blades on it last a very long time and can be turned over to use both sides. It took almost a full day of use to almost wear out one set of blades.I'm a retired machinist with over 25 years of making parts for all sorts of different things. I like a tool that is well made and does the job it was made for. This weed cutting head is one of those tools. It has been well made and is well designed. About the only thing that I can think of to make it better is to make the head a little bigger around and the blades about 1" to 1.5" longer to give it a wider cutting path. Other than that, I love this cutting head! Get one and have some fun!

Respectable, Very
The Gator arrived today and I installed it on my mid 1990's Echo pseudo commercial strait shaft weed eater. Two full gas tanks later the metal bladed Gator is still in perfect working condition, but even if it was broken now- it was worth it and already payed for its self. You will need a weed eater powerful enough to power it. I would buy a Gator soon because anything so cool, useful, handy, and dangerous is surly to get banned at some point. When I read the reviews and got to the line '...I now consider it the most dangerous tool in my garage...' I took this as a sales pitch instead of a warning. It is both, but heed the warning part of that. Its all about context and expectations. When I was a kid and watched the movie Predator there was this scene where Arnold Schwarzenegger and about 5 other guys all wielding machine guns are shooting into the rain-forest at an invisible alien. The leaves, trees, branches, and other green foliage is getting obliterated and blown apart. One of the other 5 guys is carrying a mini Gatling gun. When operating the Gator for the first time you will feel like all 6 of those guys combined, but in reality you will be most anaglous to the guy with the mini Gatling gun. Pretty awesome. Still not a tank or that gun on the front of an A10 WartHog, but very respectable. As far as the amount of green death producing carnage one can inflict on his yard and densely weeded lot next door in a finite amount of time-- this thing is pretty darn handy. Its like a mini bush hog attached to the end of a weed eater but with less control and less safety guarding. Do not allow wives, children, or anything you actually consider of value within 100 yrds.I saw sparks fly numerous times when I launched rocks out of site. I chopped 1/4 weeds and tall grass with ease. I would have to pause for a few seconds to eat thru 1/2 thick stuff, but the sound it made while doing it was entertaining enough to offset the extra time. I ate thru greater than 1 inch stuff multiple times, but its not particularly good at this.If weed eater accessories were sold at firework stores, and you ask the clerk for the good stuff in the back of the shop, this is the thing you would get.I thought the guy in the review that said he cleared a lot with this was exaggerating. It is entirely possible to do that.
