So-So
It doesn't ever get cold enough to cool a room-temp drink, but it will keep an already cold drink cold longer. The heating function seems to work well enough, but then, I don't really like my coffee or tea super hot. Considering the tiny amount of power available from a USB port, and the convenience of plugging it into one, this actually works surprisingly well.

USB COOLER WARMER
This is a pretty snazzy gadget! It keeps your cold drinks cooler/and warm drinks warmer than when they are just setting on your desk or table. It will NOT cool a warm drink or heat a cool drink it will only maintain the temperature. I knew and suspected this based on the research done prior to purchasing the product. That being said, I think it's a pretty good thing for the computer worker or for those of us who spend hours on the computer. All in ALL I think it is a pretty good purchase. Enjoy!

One Star
This is really a piece of junk but I was curious as to how it was built.

In the Words of Jeremy Clarkson: It's perfect in every way, except for one thing, IT SUCKS!
I noticed the 5 star reviewer said he "just received" his item. I've had mine for two days and I've tested it thoroughly. The plate gets warm when you set it to warm (it takes a good while), and cold when you set it to cold. The problem is that it doesn't get hot or cold enough and the heating/cooling surface is too small. The bottom line is, I was able to keep a quarter cup of tea just ever so slightly above room temperature, which is too cold. Then when it comes to cooling, it had also a very slight effect on my water. And it takes long to make even just that tiny difference. I don't want to take a hour to drink my beverage/tea. I highly recommend you keep searching and save your money.

Cranky
It doesn't really do that much. I got it for work because I have a desk and often bring a cold can in in the mornings but then can't seem to drink it quick enough during the day before it gets hot (because I have to do so much running around). It keeps cans at a decent temperature because they are metal. If you put a plastic water bottle on here, it's useless. Additionally, sometimes when I turn it on it makes this weird squealing sound. I have to try turning it on and off a few times before it starts working quietly. I've never tried the hot side so idk how well that works.
