Douse the job

Good old fashioned equipment- built like a tank and easy to install. I was having an issue with my heating zone valve not always returning fully to shut- leaving the boiler running. Added this relay wired in series with the demand loop, powered in parallel with the valve. Makes sure that if the valve should not be open, the heating is off.

The relay was very easy to wire up, but I think instructions should be provided to help identify terminals. The relay is a bit bigger than I would’ve liked, but it does the job.

Absolutely shocking quality. No good whatsoever ever. Prongs on relay won’t align with base. Poor! Returning.

I have several of this type of relay, used for central heating controls where isolation is needed between pump drives (generally, that control of the pump needs to come from two different places). The base is designed for DIN mounting, so is quite chunky, but can be mounted separately in a control box. Easy to wire the connections, with a standard layout it can also replace a failed device without rewiring. The relay is a tight fit in the octal base, so should not come loose but it has no retaining clip (helpful if it is facing downwards) and I have therefore suggested 4 stars. It is good, reliable, flawless operation otherwise.

No problem with the pin alignment as some have reported, but it is stiff to push in, more than it should be, so the pins or socket are probably out of tolerance. The relay makes a satisfying click when energised and the resistance across the contacts is very low. I am switching 5A DC so I added a snubber to reduce arcing which works a treat. So from a switching point of view, it does the job perfectly. However, there is a big drawback, it hums, and it gets overly warm, it does this with no load connected, so it is coming from the AC side, a low frequency hum which sounds a bit like a mains substation. It is loud enough to be annoying. Also the relay gets excessively warm, suggesting it is drawing excess current, which is not at all ideal. I will be changing it for a pin compatible alternative one as as possible as I am not comfortable using this unattended. It may be a one off, but reading other comments, quality seems very hit and miss with this product.

Lastig om cijfertjes op de voet te zien. En al helemaal niet als het relais er in zit. De aansluitingen afbreelding staan matig zichtbaar op 1 kant van het relais. Zit goed vast.

Alles gut
