Lexibook, Electronic Travel Chess Set, LCG500

Very good learning tool for anyone learning to play chess. I bought for my grandson as he's just learning to play. It's good quality and you won't be disappointed. It's easy to learn. My grandson is 7 and he's loved this.

Bought twice .. defective twice. Skip it

Great but some pieces need more definition such as difference between king-queen. Maybe make king cross more defined. Also make the bishops taller than the pawns. It's hard to distinguish between all these pieces. I'm older with poor eyesight so that's why I gave this rating.

Just got this one from Amazon. It's just like the travel sets from Radio Shack and the Kasparov endorsed ones from the late 80's and 90's. Very cheap plastic compared to them though. Screw based battery cover could be a problem if used a lot. Also, it doesn't have a cover to keep the spare pieces in place even though there are two slots at the top edge for one. This is a problem because it initially is hard to open, it snaps twice to open fully, given you a chance to make your spare pieces airborne. Altogether, not bad for a travel set and worth it at the current price.

This has been such a fun addition for my kids. It keeps them engaged without a screen, which is honestly a huge win in our house. Great for travel, but also just for those moments when I need everyone a little… quieter 😄 It’s well made and actually teaches them something too.

You’ll lose a piece (a knight in my case) and Lexibook apparently does not sell replacement chess parts, so you’re done playing with a proper set. Doesn’t matter how good the game is if you can’t properly play it. Do better Lexibook.
