Use the tripod stand and watch weight disruption on hose
Fabulous but get the tripod stand, and watch how much hose weight you put on the connector otherwise it will flip off stand. Once you get it dialed in for your yard, just set your phone timer if you don’t have a shutoff timer, and you’re good to go!

Perfect for me
I saw some negative reviews about this being plastic. It seems very sturdy and from other reviews it seems like its fine in full sun for 3 years so I have no complaints. I have only had it a week but I needed the ability to adjust the width in my small yard. This works perfect.I had a Melnor brand sprinkler for the same area before, but I have to get a new one every year as the holes get clogged and the oscillating stops working—its made of metal, but what good is metal if its useless? Now, I should disclose that I live in Southern California with extremely hard water, I leave it outside all year and do no cleaning of the unit so Melnors might last longer in other areas. As far as this model, will see how long it lasts, but the cleaning tool seems like it will be useful in unstopping mineral buildup. I will update my review if I have any problems but I am quite satisfied. Just the smoothness of the motion and water flow alone is actually quite impressive, but the main thing I like is the width adjustment.

Five years old and still going.
Even though I bought two of these sprinklers five years ago, I wanted to write to counter the poor reviews this little piece of magic has received. After five years, both of my Gardena 1975 Aquazooms work beautifully. All the adjustments are still precise, the timers still work perfectly, the oscillation is still smooth and there are no leaks. I've had to replace the quick disconnects a couple of times (none of these things work forever) but they work so well that we've put them on all our hose attachments. We have about 1/3 acre around our house and I move each of the sprinklers to three different areas and my entire lawn is watered. I can't use the sprinkler at maximum spread in each area but it's easy to adjust the width and length so I don't water our roof, windows or the street. I live in the Pacific Northwest so I only use the sprinkler about 4 months of the year. I keep it outside by the hose bib all year long, not undercover, so I'm not taking any extra care of it. I love this sprinkler and several of my neighbors have purchased this because they see how well it works for my lawn.

Good for several years, then motor/gears started to slip
Worked well while it worked, for about 10 yrs a couple times a week for 4 months. Then either the motor &/or gear mechanism started to fail and it couldn't rotate itself out of position once it rotated fully in one direction. Before that, appreciated the ability to control spray pattern with width on both sides, and with degrees of rotation. Sprayed a good distance.

Absolute best there is for saving water
Shockingly expensive but anything good is. There's just nothing else like these. I have a huge garden and have gotten away from drip irrigation because I have a lot of native plants that don't need very much water. They do however need some water during our California drought and so I use four of these sprinklers. After having use them for many years I expect to get 3 to 4 seasons out of one sprinkler. The way they give out is they stop oscillating on very low streams of water at a certain point. I think if your water is really hard mineral. build up in the mechanism tends to exacerbate this problem. One cool thing about the sprinklers is that the nozzles are actually little soft plastic/rubber tubes that can be cleaned out with a short length of wire if they clog. Amazing adjustability which is great if you're trying to save waterAnd pinpoint certain areas. I usually buy the ones with the timers on them because that saves huge amounts of water also but I have tried to fit in this case a timer from an old worn-out Gardena sprinkler to this timer-less model to save a few bucks. One way to make them last a little longer is to bring them in and out of the sun and drain the water out of them so there's no standing water in the mechanism

It’s so simple to use
Like many have said it is a great sprinkler. (One word of advice at the end.) Bought it summer of ‘15. I don’t always need to use a sprinkler but when I do I pass up all the Mickey Mouse ones and head straight for this one - Always! (no offense MM). Still works perfectly. No electronics. No batteries. Everything manual. Nothing to rust. VERY easy to set and modify if necessary. Nice even rectangle so no need to water some areas 4 times to get other areas once. Covers an amazing area. One caution. I by no means treat mine with kid gloves but I don’t abuse it either. It is plastic. Plastic has it pluses and it has drawbacks. Common sense should tell you that it does break if treated roughly. If you have kids that ride their bikes over the sprinkler, and hubby throws it on the cement patio every week when he mows the lawn, and the neighbor kid uses it in the street as a football, then, yes, my advice would be to stick to a very simple metal one - like the old owl-eye. Most of you moms and wives know exactly what I mean.

Well made sprinkler
I have used this sprinkler now for the whole summer. It works great and is made very well. I love the features on this sprinkler. I am able to control the flow of the water and the direction it goes. I have a narrow patch of grass going down the side of the property that I am now able to adjust the sprinkler to accommodate the area without overflowing onto the house and adjoining property. Love this sprinkler!
