Seed Needs Rue Seeds to Plant Heirloom Non-GMO Medicinal Herbs 2 Packs

Great germination rate and growing well. Sowed these in early May in a pot and at first I didn't see any growth until a month in. Kept them in a plastic greenhouse outside and once it was late June, I saw the leaves forming. I will transplant them to the ground so they can overwinter. Very happy the seeds turned out good since I don't have great success with Rue cuttings.

I bought these as a butterfly host for giant swallowtails. I planted an entire 72-cell seed tray of these rue seeds and only 5 germinated. I would honestly say I neglected them, though and probably they didn't really do well in the full-sun environment, so I'm not ready to completely bash the germ rate. The five plants are doing very well, and look great but have yet to bloom. The five in the picture are about 3 months old and have fresh growth on them and are thriving much more since I moved them to full shade during the summer heat. Overall, I'd recommend these seeds, but if you aren't planning to watch them carefully, maybe overplant them so you end up with how many you really want. UPDATE: While the momma Giant Swallowtails won't lay eggs on this if there are citrus trees nearby, when we transfer the eggs/larvae to rue, they do eat it but only about 50% take to it. The others starve themselves in opposition. Anyway, good seeds - produced great plants!

I attempted numerous methods to sow these seeds; however, regrettably, nothing grew out of it. Won't buy it again.

These rue seeds — or ruda, as they’re known in Spanish — have been an amazing discovery. Each packet comes with so many seeds, and I was pleasantly surprised that almost every single one sprouted. I honestly expected that, like with many other seeds, you plant a bunch and only two or three actually grow. But in this case, every seed was truly fertile and took off! I’ll be sharing some photos where you can see them growing in a small pot, a larger pot, and even directly in the ground — and they’re all thriving beautifully. The scent instantly brought back memories from many years ago, and I couldn’t be more thankful that there’s someone out there doing an excellent job providing such quality seeds. The plants themselves are strong and healthy. I’m not sure how they’ll do in the winter where I live, but the ones in pots will definitely come indoors with me. As for the ones outside, I’ll cover and care for them, and we’ll see how they do. In the meantime, these seeds have truly been a wonderful find.
